Aching shoulders
Hi
These were one of the first symptoms with bad heads and difficulty swollowing I had.
You had described it very well.
I have never been able to get rid of the pain, mine is constant.
I hope you get some relief and if you do I would be very interested to know how.
Good luck and best wishes
Thanks for your reply i just feel like ripping my arms off i know that must sound extreme but the pain is constant.Steroid injections and tablets don't seem to help. Hope you have a pain free week-end xx
Same here I'm afraid. Take care and best wishes.

Yes and eating can be agony too. I have so far this week broken 3 glasses drops 10 cups of coffee . I put a tennis ball in a sock then stand next to wall with tennis ball in back shoulder area and gently move to attempt to a massage it's worth a shot

Hi Catlady, i started with neck and shoulders too! I had a nerve block and injections in my neck does help for me but told it temporary. I just wanted relief!! Going to get lidocaine shots in my shoulders Wednesday! Can't get steroid shot because my diabetes. Chris
Hi I would love to know how you get on with the injection. Maybe something that would work for me. Good luck
Hi angiesmith, the nerve block and trigger point injections eased my center neck pain by maybe half, witch was fine with me the pain was unbearable. Dr. Tells you maybe good up to a year that's all! But I needed relief! The lidocaine I'll have to get back to you. Dr. Says it takes awhile for those inj to work...chris
Thanx very much Chris. I have Cervial Spondylosis and fibro gives me pain in my shoulder blades. Would love some relief. Good luck.
Oh I know!! I have oa in shoulder along with other ailments. I have trouble using my hands wrist and shoulders to lift myself out of bed, and it's hard to get friends and family to try and imagine that!!π The pain is always with meπ¦. Chris
Hi I've been in agony for the last couple of weeks my left arm elbow wrist and my shoulder so sore feeling very weak and hurting when I grip anything not being able to lift my arm to undressed can't describe the pain π
Thats what i get yesterday i couldn't turn the key to lock my door. You cannot begin to describe the pain it is awful you just want your arms wrenched off just to stop it
Hi bambamnan, I've had that just recently, especially in the elbow, I actually was crying with it and thats not normally me, Cas52 recommended an elbow brace, it fit just below the elbow, and is really for tennis elbow, but it worked brilliantly, I got mine from Amazon as i dont go out much, but a friend got hers from the local chemist, she had hurt her elbow and arm shovelling wheat, [shes a farmers wife] sounds silly, but it really works, the moment I put it on, the pain eased. have a try. Lyzzie. Ps I know how that pain gets you down, hope it easier for you soon. Lyzzie x
Hi lyzzie I've actually got one of them I suffer with golfers elbow but the swelling is above into my upper arm yes the pain is awful I'm using heat packs on it and the heat seams to help it thank for advice and reminding me I have elbow brace blame fibro fog Carol xx
Bambamsnan Glad you have one, I was so glad it helped me, That pain is like nothing on earth, and how do you explain it to anyone! At the moment the pain in my arms and shoulders is doable, but Im scared to do anything to trigger it off again. I see my dr on tuesday and it the first subject on my list, I just hope he has some sort of solution. Hope you feel easier soon, thanks heavens we can chunter at each other on this site. Lyzzie x
Does anyone get pins and needles in their arms/ hands? 1 or both often? π
I was wondering if stretching or light massage helps at all. It seems to take the edge of of mine.
Also magnesium chloride oil also helps take more edge off.
But just because it helped me doesn't mean it'll help everyone.
Good luck I hope you find relief soon.
I get the same too cat lady very sore shoulders neck and back. Usually my complete rib cage all round it feels like 100 pokers stabbing it. Im on gabapentin 3600mg daily for fibro but its like any other drug they only good when they work. On bad days i take 8/500 co-codamol which does take the edge off it. I notice too most days that my full upper body bes very weak also which is annoying feeling. I also get numb hands when holding things up such as phone or paper etc. I have to keep dropping them down to get them feel normal again. You describe your neck exactly like mine cat. If i hold my head around for 5-10 seconds i get light head. Had mri 3 years ago but worse now. When i tell doc he says mri only showed level 1 of damage. Joke. So nothing must change in 3 years. I feel when suffering depression it seems to cover a wide area with docs and then they dont really take on board what you telling them physically whats wrong with you. Any all keep chin up and smile its mind over matter . If the head goes the body will go with it . π
I am so genuinely sorry to read this my friend and I would talk to your doctor about this just to have other medical conditions ruled out of the equation. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
I have similar grinding noises and pain in neck and shoulders which often keeps me awake at night. I had a bone scan recently and it showed degenerative bone disease (I think that is a fancy name for osteoarthritis!) no cure apparently, just pain management. I am currently trying out using a full body pillow which helps to keep my neck and shoulders in a better position to help sleep. It does help a bit.
I'm very sorry to hear this is causing you so much pain in your neck and shoulder Catlady - have you tried using a neck brace at all? (The support might help). Your shoulders - do you think the pain is from inflammation? (or otherwise, nerve pain.....)? With best wishes,
Hi catlady
I have exactly the same pain as you, sometimes my head feels like it weighs so much too. I drop things all the time and get burning it pins and needles in my hands and feet.
Hi Catlady
I also have really bad neck and shoulder pain.
I have had reflexology, chiropractors, acupuncture. And massage. But nothing seems to ease it at all.
If anyone has any ideas, I would be greatly.
So I feel your pain
Missy x
Hi,
It's not tge arthritis, u have tgat too,
And your right, unless you feel tge pain, you can't describe it.
Sometimes I want to yank my arms and neck off, no matter how many pain killers you tale nothing seems to help.
,
I get this all time n in shoulder blades the pain is like no other X
Sometimes the pains so bad i think some1 or something is inside my body will this pain ever be controlled x
Hi Catlady I had the same problems in 1986 - consultant diagnosed Cervical Spondylosis my left arm was mostly affected I felt smashing it against the wall the pain was so bad - doc put me on DF118 which was the next step to morphine - having been a nurse I knew these could become addictive - I tried acupuncture and it really did help about six months later it came back with a vengeance but in both shoulders and arms - this time couldn't feel anything in my index finger went had acupuncture again - it worked and I've never suffered from the numbness. I have good days and bad days - take tramadol and paracetamol can't have anti inflammitories as have asthma - the pains I have been suffering from I put down to the spondylosis from Jan this year only to find out recently it is Fibro - so I do understand where you are coming from - my motto is when you do have a good day don't overdo it take your time have rests in between whatever you are doing and mostly don't let it defeat you - you manage it and not the other way round. Hope this helps take care. π
Thank you for your reply,i think like you until you have the pain you can't explain it.The trouble is when i have a good day i go mad and do things i know i shouldn'tbut i do lol take care
Hi,
I am not sure if my suggestion would work in your country. In India, we follow the Ayurvedic line of treatment for this. Three years back, I had a neck issue with enormous pain radiating onto my left arm and numbness in one of the fingers. I was advised a 15-day Ayurvedic session then and the pain subsided greatly. I am now on a 7-day repeat session yearly.
Fine as of now.
Take care.
