Fibromyalgia skin care pesky ingrown hairs

I read somewhere that people with fibromyalgia are more likely to have skin tags and tears and ingrown hairs. Welcome to my life!! Last time I had an ingrown hair, I had to have a PCP cut it out. I guess I'll have to do that again. How embarrassing!

Just because someone writes something does not make it true. I am not aware of any connection and given the prevailing theory it would not make sense.

With such a large population of people with fibro there will be lots or correlation like how many have blue eyes. It does not mean they are linked.

I understand where you are coming from as an administrator but PLEASE try to sound a little less high and mighty. It really reads as quite rude sometimes; which doesn't help, when one is trying to explain something and not necessarily correctly due to fibro fog, pain, etc. Thank you.

I can only control the intent behind my words and not how they are received. Believe me when I say it is not meant to be high and mighty and often suffers as a result of expediency and shifting between many things.

Everyone is different in how they express and take things onboard even before you go towards neurotypical or not. I am matter of the fact a lot of the time but I would rather answer the question than ignore it for how my answer may be taken incorrectly.

apologies if my responses are taken the wrong way,

I think certain people get these whether they have fibro or not. I've had skin tags since my teens and they are very annoying. The gp used to remove the largest ones for me but this is no longer done by the NHS. Yet another nail in the NHS coffin. The ingrown hairs sound painful. Take care:)

I've had an awful lot of ingrown hairs this past year, while I've been at my worst. It doesn't sound like something that could be caused by fibromyalgia, but I've definitely had more.

I tend to get a lot more of everything, ingrown hairs, bumps, bruises, cysts, painful spots. Which I didn’t have before fibromyalgia.

It's true what some of you have said, that I'm only expressing something whether correct or not. I have read in several articles that the skin can have more irritations and inflammations with fibromyalgia. This day and age certain beauty regiments are required. To be beautiful one has to do certain things. I think this weighs heavier on women, so this may be the reason a man has commented that there is no such thing as a skin problem, because he is not required to do anything by universal beauty standards and what the magazines have women believing. I'm susceptible, too. Thank you ladies for suspending judgment and hearing me out. There may be some truth to what I'm saying when there have been studies showing that we are having more skin inflammation and then add beauty products and practices to that.

My comment was not made in any way related to my gender. If you look at my past posts you will see that I comment on research all the time. I also update the charities content within our publications.

I participated in a stakeholder meeting with about 20 other research professionals from all over the world earlier today.

So when I said the above I was speaking on the basis of what the research and current clinical guidance says and not my current current beauty regime on conformation with societal expectations of my gender.

I would be interested in reading the research article you found on increased skin inflammation in fibromyalgia. Could you share a link?
