Hi, has anybody with fibro actually lost weight? I’ve just seen some pictures and I look enormous. I still walk and get to 10,000 steps a day and thought that was good for a fibro sufferer, some days it kills , but the weight is steadily going on. I don’t take any medication other than co dydramol so I can’t blame that, I’d really appreciate some suggestions , thank you

Weight gain
I joined Slimming World and lost 4 stone so it is possible to lose weight whilst having fibro and reduced mobility. Can't say it was easy but with the right mind set, like anything, it is possible.
I have put on over a stone and cannot shed the weight either. Medication is a no go area for me. I have problem with digestion and that may be a contributory factor. My food consumption is low ...where am I going wrong?
So I am with you on this issue, sorry that I can’t give you any specific advice. I think Dinkie is lucky to have lost 4 stones.
All the best
Hi, I cut down on carbohydrates. I’ve lost a stone & found I wasn’t aching as much.
I’m hoping to loose 10 pounds.& I am being careful to avoid carbohydrates most of the time. Eat lots of veg, some fruit. And smaller portions. But my willpower fluctuates a bit. I’ve managed to avoid chocolate for months & then I had 9 pain chocolate buttons last night. Oh dear.
I think sometimes you just need a treat. As long as you stick with it on most days the weight will still gradually come off. I always allowed myself a treat every Saturday.
Thank you Spider, that’s a good valued point. I am determined to loose this amount of weight for next year and keep into this mode of eating for all time.
I’m sure you will do really well with such a positive attitude
I’ve now realised why I was tempted to the chocolate although it could have been a coincidence. I bought a book off eBay called “Thornton’s, My life in the family business “ I’ve only read about 3 pages but the mention of the Continental chocolates does come up a few times. I’ve not eaten any for a good few years and I suspect they would be too sweet for me now. But the general talk of chocolate sent me to my pantry where the chocolate buttons live !
Hi Kim I was massive well to me I was a size 22 am now a 14 I did everything walking as much as I could and strict calorie counting. Basically long story short I had my gallbladder removed and lost 4.50 stones in 4 months and now I eat and have not gained except when I was on a high dose of Pregabalin I ate my weight in chocolate went back to a much lower dose and lost the stone I gained in 2 weeks. I have an app where I log all food stick to my calories and try and I mean try to have a deficit with how much I burn each day xx 🥰
Hi. You’ve done brilliantly, it couldn’t have been easy. What app do you use for calorie counting, it sounds like a great way to keep track of what you’re eating. I’ve gained 10lbs during lockdown and it just will not budge😩
I use the the nutra check app and you can choose what you want to keep an eye on say for example sugar or say fat I pay £3.99 for the unlimited version and it’s been a lifesaver you just scan items you have eaten by the bar code xx
Hi Kim, I've been diagnosed fibro for 15 years now I did my first round of slimming world prior to my hysterectomy back in 2014 and lost 3 and a half stone after a lapse I'm back on it now since February just before the lockdown and have lost almost 2 stone both times with absolutely no exercise involved due to health reasons it's all about using the right foods and and increasing your vegetable and fruit making sure your meat proteins are as low in fat as possible usually by buying less than 5% mince products and removing all visible fat from the rest, switching out oils to sprays ect all help. I think mostly it's about balance nothing is banned it's just moderating the things that make us fat I hope this helps and I wish you well on your journey. X
I've been suffering from fibromyalgia for several years and I haven't noticed any weight changes. I have never been overweight and I eat normally. I do try not to eat too much, though.
