I just wondered if anyone else is waiting to hear back from their PIP application? I received a text on 20th January to say my form had been received. This is a first time application and just wondered if things usually take this long?

Many thanks in advance,

Isabel

Thank you, I’m trying to hang back from phoning if I can. Now I’m aware there are delays I will wait it out. Thanks again 🙏🏼

If your application is successful it will be backdated to the date you applied. There is a backlog since covid. It used to only take about 6 to 8 weeks, but now have to wait many months.

I would definitely phone them, they loose stuff all the time.

Hello, there is a lot of applications being submitted by people assuming they are entitled or will be awarded PIP. Most applications take up to 6 to 8 months, mine a change of circumstances took 7 months then I did an MR additional 6 weeks. There is a lot of information about claiming PIP but the information is correct but I have never read anything about the claiming criteria. To claim PIP you must have had the conditions for 3 months and will continue for another 9 months or longer. All the information given is you could get up to £152 per week by claiming PIP no assistance or guidance on the procedure or criteria needed to meet the PIP descriptors.

Hi,

I applied in febuary. Initially I applied because due to back issue I have had for years I now can hardly walk it has completely took over my life. I had my medical assessment yesterday via the phone. They told me at least another 4-6 weeks before I get a decision.

I was told after MRI in October it was bulging disc touching nerves causing the pain.

After my appointment with specialist last week he has said it is Fibromyalgia with degenerative disc disease. Has anyone else had a similar diagnosis?

That sounds like a fairly quick turnaround for you

Hello, phone the DWP and request a copy of your assessment report and on receiving it you can work out what your award may should be but you still have to wait for the award notification letter.

I will do that. I am so worried after reading a few articles lately saying they are declining so many. I have been working from home on test and trace but that is due to end this month.

Morning. I would phone up DWP to chase. It seems likely that it has been sent to an ‘Assessment Provider’ (Capita or IAS) who will then contact you with an Assessment date. As yours is a ‘First’ application they will want to do a Face to Face Assessment. There is a large backlog for these because of Covid.

Phone.. you’ll feel better knowing something… AND things do get lost..

I got my letter in today. It’s a telephone assessment on 12/07/21by the independent Assessors.

Good luck… Really pleased you didn’t get a F2F.. I would do some internet research on assessments to help you. I would also have a copy of your application next to you when they phone so your info is close at hand..

That’s me had my phone assessment earlier today. I feel a bit disheartened to be honest. I felt like the assessor really focused on the fact that I am still working 😔

in reply toLadyatlunch

I had to go to a Tribunal after my 2016 review as I worked 3 hours a week. They concluded that I was therefore ‘fine’ 🤬.

That’s ridiculous. I’m sure these assessors could never understand the frantic effort made by most of us to try and cling on to out former lives. Working is part of that.

in reply toLadyatlunch

I know. It makes you feel like you are still ‘part of things’. I’m medically retired now (as my fibro fog made my job impossible even just for a few hours☹️). But my PIP was straight forward this time 🙄Deep breaths. It’s the system not you 🙃
