Received a letter from PIP this morning saying they have given me extra time to send in my application. Slightly puzzled as it doesnāt need to be in till 30th November well this is the online version, I did stupidly ask for the questionnaire to be sent through the post first, but in receiving it I realised I wasnāt able to cope with that much writing but even so the date of return for that one isnāt till the 23rd November!
Am I missing something here? As I thought if you needed more time it was down to you to contact them! Has anyone else experienced this? Iām new to all this, first time applying for this & ESA omg what a nightmare, so totally overwhelmed by it all š

dont worry ,there isa back log, i asked for 3 extensions as the form is exhausting and needed help .Application is to date of orginal form so will not be a problem. Ive mine back in Aug as only received occasional text to say we have your form ,im still getting my payments anyway.
HiI had exactly the same..letter giving an extension I hadn't requested. I did online application. I didn't query it. It gave me time to think about my application . I never had any repercussions from taking the time. Don't forget you can submit your application anytime up to deadline. I had a successful pip application. The process is not meant to be easy but take each section bit by bit..I did small chunks daily until I completed it...it seemed more manageable that way. Good luck with your application.x
Thank you Buboo this is very reassuring. Yes, the only way I can manage these questionnaires is a chunk at a time. Will be glad to see the back of it all and the decisions made. Hope today is kind to you x
They or you can request extra time as the form itself takes ages to fill in. Don't worry even if you can't finish it by the 30th they'll give you another extension. Just keep them in the know. š
Thank you for your reply Chris72FibroBipolar if I need more time then I will get in touch with them, but Iām pretty confident I can now get it done by the extended period š¤š»
Lol...The DWP are a law unto themselves. Personally I think it's to slow down applications as there are a record number of people wanting to claim PIP due to the upcoming changes to Universal Credit. If you are ready send in the claim.
You need to remember that if you are granted pip the back pay is from the day they received your application. By delaying you could loose a number of weeks of back pay.
I first applied for PIP in March. It was the online version. Each time I opened it to fill in I kept having panic attacks & in the end I left it as just too stressful. I did have a letter extending the date to return. Then my work coach suggested I have it sent to me paper form & also gave me a number to ring where you make an appointment & they help you fill it in. That was soo much easier for me. I should of had my telephone assessment yesterday but they rang me & changed it to next week instead.
Thank you for replying EllenDaisy and yes what works for one doesnāt necessarily work for another, I have terrible pain/problems with my hands and so much writing is required with these questionnaires that itās just beyond me.
That must be so frustrating that your telephone assessment didnāt happen yesterday, itās stressful enough and delays are just not funny as we get ourselves all prepared for it! Good luck for next week and for the outcome š¤š»have a nice day x
I donāt really knowā¦but as the written application was due today 23 November & they hadnāt received it..they were probably anticipating it was going to be lateā¦so just sent a reminder?
