I have made the first steps for applying for PIP, the initial phone call. I'm just waiting on the form to arrive.
Does anyone have any advice about completing the forms? Anything I should say - extra details anywhere etc? Any advice would be grateful as this is my first application for any benefit.
Thanks!

have you asked your gp, consultant(s) and other medical staff for letters of support? ask them to send their letters direct to you to put in your claim pack. make several copies as you may need them again.
you can also include info from reliable sources such as fibroaction (click on the butterfly at the top right of this page)
email mdaisy info@fibroaction.org for the help sheets.
you might also consider joining benefits & work. there is a fee of about £20, but many consider them very good - pm me for details.
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you can possibly be today? This is wonderful news for starters! I think if I were you I would speak to people with lots of experience at filling these forms in, like the CAB? Maybe you have a Disability Direct in your area?
I would also ensure that you use every GP, Consultant and other specialist that you have for positive medical reports for you.
I want to wish you all the best of luck with this.
Hi Charlie I've been for my consultation with pip 5 weeks ago and I sent in every letter from docs, specialists, and even got my neighbours to write a letter for me,I'm still waiting for a reply which they did say they had received all the info they needed and are now dealing with my claim and I will hear from them shortly,I will let u know how I get on best of luck filling them forms in it took me a week, lol u will get there Hun gentle hugz Mandz x
The best info I can give you is to make an apointment with CAB for them to help you fill out he forms and secondly try and make sure that you have written proof of all your illnesses preferably from a specialist.
I had one Capita assesser tell me that it is hard to convince the DWP that you have fibro without written medical evidence.
hugs and good luck sue
I would be really interested to hear how you get on with this. I am considering making a claim for pip also. I currently work 4 days and I am finding it increasingly difficult. Good luck with your claim.

Hi hun put as much information in as possible 're Dr letters consultants ext. Also fill in the form on your waste days because if you say some days I can do ..... Then they will take it as some days not your worse days. Hope this helps x
I'm in the middle of filling in my form too. It's hard to remember to put everything in. I keep doing something, realising it's much harder than for other people, make a note to add it to my PIP form. It's very easy to leave stuff out thinking it's not relevant, but if it ticks enough boxes I guess it all helps. I'm keeping a diary for a week to see how far I can walk comfortably. Good luck. It's quite daunting isn't it.

The best place for advise is Benefits and Work and is worth every penny. Without it I would not have got my DLA and ESA Support Group. Without medicals. But also do not tick the boxes but answer the questions by longhand or typing Pages and pages and explain properly. Do not say sometimes as they then think o you can do it most of the time. I put at least 40 pages attached to form including all of letters from Hospitals,GP absolutely anything to back up all that is wrong with you even if u were diagnosed 20yrs ag plus any mental health stuff. Say you need help even if you don't get it because that is the whole point. God luck.
