Mornin Hel52 Im sorry your getting so much ankle pain. If you look to the right of your screen, you will see related posts & under title you will see blue links to other members posts on ankle pain. I'm afraid foot and ankle pain effects the majority of people with Fibro but in saying that, if this is a new symptom you should really talk to your GP because it could also be many other things which would need treating.
I get pains in my ankles from nowhere, i tend to get a real sharp pain and my ankle will just give way, so I have to have my stick even walking around the house because it just goes. I also get a lot of swelling and aching in my whole foot & it could swell up to twice its size overnight. I have also got Polymyalgia so this causes swelling and pain aswell. It does feel like I am walking on broken glass some days & I get numbness, cramp & dreadful crepitus & crunch and crack when I first walk on them in the morning worse.
Always injured my ankles, going over, spraining etc. and I think this is fairly common for people with Fibro because of weak muscles.
Hope this helps and puts your mind at rest but I would deffo mention to doctor, especially if you haven't had any blood tests recently.
Thank you very much it's very helpful I feel it crunching and cramping use to run half marathons cycle and go to the gym regularly so foot and ankle pain was the normal on occasions this has just appeared I will see if I can see my GP.
Funny enough Helen, my problems all started with my foot. I did something we all do, without thinking about it. I climbed on a chair to water a plant I had on a shelf and as I hopped off the chair my ankle gave way a bit & gave me a little pain, nothing major & I completely forgot it had even happened, it was that insignificant. The 2 days afterwards I couldn't walk on my foot, it was so painful, the only way I could sleep was with a cold flannel layed across it and hanging out of bed, I couldn't bare to even have a cover on it.
It was like that for about 5 days and that was the beginning for me.
luv Jan x
Hello hel52, I too have sore weak ankles at present, seasonal I think, its OA in bones, good soak in hot foot bowl and rotate your feet clock wise and anti clockwise to get muscle strength to support the weakness- instruction I was given by physio this week.
Thank you very much will try these tomorrow I have been hopping about keeping the pets entertained trying not to fall on the cats sneaky little things just appear Archie dog stays on the sofa for cuddles.
I can see that you have been given some wonderful replies and advice so I will simply and sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself. The only other thing I would mention is that if a symptom is new or persistent then it is always advisable to get it checked out.
