I have had IBS on and off for about 4 years but never this bad it's usually either constpiation or diarrhea without too much pain. I first started getting pain in my lower abdomen, Thursday afternoon but it was manageable. Today I haven't even been able to get out of bed with the pain, it does get a bit less after I have been to the loo which is a bit on the loose side but not diarrhea (sorry). I have been drinking water only and had a slice of real chicken but my stomach is rumbling like mad and adding to the pain. I am wondering if it is IBS as I am feeling very cold too despite it being 22c outside and the pain in my legs is much worse today. If anyone has any advice I would be grateful as never had stomach pain so bad apart from when I had appendicitis.

I think you should call 111 for advice. I recently had Sepsis and main symptoms were feeling very cold and stomach/abdominal pain.

Please call 111 immediately and speak with someone who will be able to help you.
Thank you both. I have slept for nearly 2 hours and do feel a bit better. I shall eat later and if that makes it really bad again I will ring 111. My husband said he will take me to A&E but I really don't think I can sit on those uncomfortable chairs for 6 or 7 hours. It was bad enough when my Mum and brother were alive and my pain was about a 4 then, now it's between 7 and9. I will go if it gets too bad though.
it very much sounds like ibs, but when you get serious pain, it’s time to get it checked, I would recommend you book an appointment with your doctor, they may refer you to a gastrointestinal doctor, it’s always best to get it checked out, then they can find out ways to control the pain, could be you are bound up, higher, even though you have a loose stool lower.
Good luck.
