Hi everyone. I’ve been living with fibromyalgia for 3 years now and am struggling with severe pain but recently I have developed palpitations about 4 weeks ago . My heart feels like it pauses for a second then I get a double thumping beat and pain in my sternum and shoulders.Had tests and apart from hypertension everything seems ok.Gp thinks it could be fibro flare ups

Heart palpitations & Fibromyalgia
I have palpitations frequently. More so when in a flare. I wore a fitness watch once that had a heart monitor - it was all over the shop!! If your GP isn’t concerned, that’s reassuring. Hope you feel better soon x
Hi there and welcome to the group. Imo I would say its got nothing to do with fibro. But thats just my opinion. I have had fibro for the best part of 40 years and never heard that been part of fibro.
But I do suffer with what you describe and all I can say the pain etc in my case is simply excess trappeded wind.
Wind can get anywhere and it can be down right painful.
My heart does the same and it can be scary. The pain inthe sternum in my case is acid and wind.
You coud try having a word with your pharmacist. I take gaviscon and try and whatch what I eat. If it gets worse I would say go back and have another word with your GP not everything is fibro related.

I've been getting those for a few years ... I can feel them coming ... almost like a bubble coming up and then boom boom ... double beat ... to me it sounds like PVC's (Premature Ventricular Contractions) which are usually benign ... reading about them made me feel better ... it feels connected to fibro to me since our nervous systems are a little outta whack ... maybe Google PVCs and see if it describes what you're feeling ... there's also some interesting connections to the vagus nerve
My main suggestion w'd be to try relaxation techniques like progressive muscle relaxation, autogenic training, fantasy journeys, positive images, self-hypnosis... I've had "heart ache" due to wind as well, before my elimination diet; and I measure my blood pressure & pulse often when I now get the odd palpitations: Neither is higher, which calms me too.
hi, I've had palpitations for several years but they are due to having anxiety not my fibro. If all tests have come back clear, try not to worry about them - i find that sometimes mine flare up when i'm in a fibro flare, but again that is probably because i'm more anxious because i'm in a flare. Mindfulness, relaxation techniques and reiki help me, along with medication.
I get them very often i put it down to fibromyalgia...
Hi, I have had palps/ectopics since late teens. I have fibro and fibro pain since then too. I have also had ectopic burden (too many ectopics - this is not good or normal), I have also had an HA (but I am 66). Pain in my chest was not apparent while I was younger. Pressure was. If it continues after you've eliminated 'other causes' - ie what you eat/drink (gastric reasons) etc. I should ask my gp to look further. ps Alcohol/chocolate/coffee etc can all cause ectopic beats. Good luck ann
Welcome. Have you considered reducing sulphite intake. I have a big intolerance of them. Allot of foods that fibro sufferers are told to cut out are high in sulphites. Palpatations increased heart rate , asthma/breathng issues and hives can be symptoms. Im a firm believer that there is a very strong link between sulphites and fibro. Good luck
I experience heart palpitations also, I think it may be more to do with the anxiety that I experience though. I have been admitted to hospital on a number of occasions due to these and severe chest pain but they can't find a reason why my blood pressure and heart rate more than doubles than what it should be.
