I have had fibromyalgia for years now and I get all kinds of pain. We fibro sufferers know the pains take turns.
Today I woke up with a pain I had never had before.
The skin of my left thigh is hurting sooo much. I can't touch it because then I'll scream! Even if I touch it gently the pain is terrible. Getting dressed was a nightmare. I can't describe it.
I remember one time when I was a child I went to the beach and I burned my back badly. For several days I was in real pain, I could hardly move. Well.. I swear this pain is worse!
Has anybody experienced this type of pain?
*Update = I did a search online and I found it can be something I had never heard of called allodynia. This is most commonly linked to fibromyalgia and peripheral neuropathy two conditions I suffer from..

Hi Micafe - I've heard of fibromites with allodynia fairly often. And I think it fits very well to peripheral neuropathy too. I've only got dry skin myself tho, with itching, but also sometimes slight burning, not like yours! Hope it leaves off quick.
Thank you JayCeon. I get itching also, especially in the evening. It's very annoying. I think Peripheral Neuropathy is worse than fibromyalgia. And then I suffer from Restless legs Syndrome. I think that one is the worst of them all. Living with the three together is a nightmare. It seems they are all related.
Depends how bad you've got each, I'd say... And in the longer run how much you can find to get them down/tolerable. Connected and interacting in us, and co-morbid, rather than related as disease-types, I think.
Allodynia is simply a medical term for something that feels painful but isn't. For example, feeling like you have sunburn when you haven't. Other example is clothes brushing against your skin etc
I'm on pregabalin which helps with neuropathic pain, also use CBD oil and sometimes my weighted blanket helps take the edge off
Hmm, good question! Yeah, sort of... But: I'd suggest allodynia is used for probably seemingly more neurological causes (often more on the skin surface) and fibro centres more around unclear more muscular and tissue causes, which have still to be found. Also fibro-pains (like back, joints) may tend a bit more to hyperalgesia, i.e. 'not *enough' reason to exist. But I'm pretty sure the fibro-Ache, feverishness etc. have definite causes beyond neurological overreactions, about which we just haven't a clue yet.
Morning, yes this type of pain is horrid so I hope it goes off soon, I get what your saying I only have to knock myself slightly or accidentally scratch myself and at times go through the roof, think us Fibro s totally get the sensitivity that comes with the condition of fibromyalgia. I find that light weight clothing indoors is great as much more comfy, I hate layers or wool etc as makes me itch and feels like the clothing is much more heavy than it really is. Great when the evening comes and out comes the nightwear .
Yes, just something brushing against my thighs or someone touching my arm can be as painful as someone poking you in the eye. I have also had the sensation of cold water running down my leg. Neuropathic pain takes a while to get used to. I think it's similar to phantom pain in an amputated limb. I find heat helps and others use TENS machine as it distracts the brain from the pain.
I get new pains everyday and that's driving me crazy. I never know if it's fibromyalgia, PN, RLS or maybe something else. They take turns to make my life miserable! 😦
