Teeth - Hair

Morning everybody. Hope everyone is well.

My teeth would really hurt me a long time before I was diagnosed with fibo.

And the dentist did not have a reason why!

My jaw is starting to erode on one side & my bite has completely changed.

I have two veneers on my front teeth & have cracked them from grinding them in the night!

I am having a implant put in & waiting for this to take place but will be a long process.

I now have no front tooth for 2 months.

Has anybody else’s teeth crumbling? Or suffered from the same thing?

My hair is also the same at the front it is receding I use pantur & take supplements but don’t seem to work?

Was just wondering if anybody had the same xxx

Hi Boyboy

Your post sounds really familiar to me. I've already broken a capped front tooth with another one feeling a bit wobbly now!

Supposed to have a bite guard & bridge made after 6 months to allow healing then covid hit so still no bridge!🙄

You can buy a bite guard, I keep meaning to buy one for myself to try.

I've got some hair loss around forehead temple area too, tried biotin & Nioxin which is nice but pricey for not much difference for me anyway 🤗🤗

I feel for you 😩 I’m in exactly the same boat.

Lucky we can wear masks everywhere hey lol

Hi Boyboy

I noticed my teeth would be painful when I ate and was then diagnosed with Trigeminal neuralgia which affected my face and jaw I still grind my teeth, couldn’t eat for days with the pain had to drink through straws. I now have a really weird bite which I never had before.

With regard to hair mine started to shed more than usual and I would have so much hair in the plug hole after washing my hairdresser noticed it as well.

I had a blood test was low of VIT D I now take 2,000 a day and my hair is now so thick (my hair was originally very thick) and has really grown.

Honestly don’t waste your money on shampoos and hair treatments my friend has the thinnest hair ever and tried it all resorted to wigs in the end , eventually she started using VIT D three months down the line her hair has now started to thicken.

1) I often had tooth ache, esp. when strained, the dentist couldn't find anything. I asked his younger colleague again 3 years later, because of a second area. He did an x-ray all round and found 2 root inflammations. One was treated, the wisdom tooth taken out, the cavity still hurts occasionally, but much better. I thought it was trigeminus. But it definitely wasn't the fibro.

2) My teeth started getting much worse about 3 years ago too. Now Sjögren's is suspected I've realized part of it might be the dry mouth. So I'm chewing tooth-friendly xylite gum most of the day. Because the fibro is in the foreground I'm not brushing etc. as much as I want to, hope to get there. My acupressurist has improved the dry mouth somewhat. Again: it's not (necessarily) fibro, and even if it is, it deserves to be thought about why. This dryness is in my eyes, mouth, throat, skin, stomach (hyperacidity), but praps not gut (IBSD not IBSC).

Hi JayCeon

I've wondered about Sjögren's myself, don't have the dry eyes though but mouth, nose, throat really dry, constantly clearing throat & losing voice . Lots of acid reflux, omeprazole increased to twice daily. Waiting on appointment for upper GI Endoscopy as GP seems to think coming off stomach, who knows when that'll be, been on list for gallbladder surgery since just before lockdown hit 🥴

Hi CheetieCat: Have you had bloods done for Sjögren's? As you probably know, dry eyes & mouth are only an indicator, not necessary... My eyes have twice been tested not dry, but since then, I've noticed that they are sometimes itchy even when I am not tired all over. I'm waiting for the result of the lip biopsy...

No, didn't know there was a blood test, thought just lip biopsy. Eyes do get quite red & gritty. Might discuss with GP, thanks for reply. Just keeps on coming doesn't it?

Even the lip biopsy is only a indicator, be it perhaps the most important. Got my kidney doc's report today and he had also had a look for Sjögren-related symptoms, but didn't find any.

I get really bad acid reflux. Now take 2 lanzoparol a day. Has the camera down the throat and there was no sign of anything.

I also have a really really bad overactive bladder. Back on the waiting list to have Botox.

I even have an app on my phone called flush 🙈 lockdown is not doing me any favours as no toilets are open.

Acid reflux is horrible isn't it? Good outcome with the camera though but kinda leaves you back at square one. With you on lack of toilets, find myself not drinking as much so I won't get caught out, not so good for migraines! Just can't win 🥴
