Our dearest, much loved, friends!

I recently moved into sheltered accommodation, left behind my dog, cat, goats and sheep. I was heartbroken, I had been made homeless, lost all of my belongings. My dog Max and cat Chas had been with me for 8 years, they were my family kept me fit healthy and happy. My mental and physical health has suffered without them.

What do you think? Are we happier, healthier and more relaxed and have less pain and discomfort if we have our beloved pets with us? I think it' s cruel for our animals and cruel for us. I heard my cat had been put to sleep, he was only 9 healthy and a great comfort and friend to me! I've frequently had suicidal thoughts since loosing the boys!

Aw I'm so sorry, what a horrible time you're having.

Yes I do believe animals have an extremely positive effect on us, reducing pain? I don't know but they certainly make my life so much richer for being there.

Please take care & ask for help from your GP for your low mood which is totally understandable under your circumstances.

Good morning! I’m so sorry to hear about your cat & dog, we get very attached to our furry friends, and I do believe that they can bring us comfort, and understand our moods.

You’ve been through a lot, and it’s understandable that you are feeling down, but please speak to someone if this continues.

Perhaps when you feel up to it you could see if there are any cat & dog Sanctuaries near you, and you could maybe help out there?.

In the meantime, keep coming on here and tell us how you’re doing.

Please take care.

GP. 😊😊

Cannot imagine the pain this has caused you. Focus on all the wonderful memories you have of your fur babies, and the love you gave them. Now you need to think of your own situation and state of mind... as said by the others please speak to a gp or call a helpline even, tell them exactly how you feel. Remember we are all here to talk to also. Dont feel you are alone in this horrid time, things will get better, believe me sending you loving thoughts and a big virtual hug.

Oh Bunty this broke my heart I don’t know what I would do without my fur baby Charlie (dog) I think personally for me when I am in bed crying with pain Charlie is beside me it’s like he knows my pain 🥰

I think they make me happy but ive got 3 dogs and no problems whatsoever in my life and yet a year ago I suddenly had problems walking then immense pain now im on morphine and can barely walk. I woke up at 3am today feeling like my leg was broken. I usually wake at 6am feeling like my wrists are both broken. It is the most ridiculous unexplainable thing. Ive had mri and ct scans and it is just the fibro. So sorry back to your point. Im sure it's devastating to lose your pets and maybe it makes you feel worse. But ive got mine and I feel horrendous.

Oh Allison poor you! The dogs know and will give you help and comfort! Have you a good community, everyone is getting supportive since the virus! Don't hesitate to ask for help. Hope you are feeling a little better now, sorry it's been so long, still struggling with the moving! Hugs and love to you and doggies! Bunty xxx

I truly feel for you Bunty, I agree that pets are so precious - I have 2 cats myself and they are more than companions - they are my comforters when my FM pain is so bad I want to weep, my therapists when I swear at the TV and MPs - calming me down with a look and an invite to cuddles. I am sure your pets felt safe and loved with you too 😀 maybe they run a pet visiting scheme nearby that could pop round once the pandemic is through? I hope so, you sound like a very kind lady. X

I think you are right, we are happier when we have a creature to care for , whether it is dog, cat or something else. They make us get out of bed in the mornings to care for them. They show us affection, and they make us laugh at their antics.

It is cruel that you have had to leave your pets behind, they become part of your family, and if you are otherwise alone, they are a great comfort.

I'm sorry to hear you have had so many problems.

Cheers, Midori

Oh Bunty, this has had me in tears. I’m so sorry. It must have been hard work looking after all your fur babies and you probably put them before your needs. It’s time to look after yourself now. I hope you have someone you can talk to, or have some counselling. Please take care xx
