Please let me know.
Hi, yes I have degenerative disc disease, also osteoarthritis and fibro, along with diabetes and also a very rare genetic syndrome, which also causes me a lot of pain.
I am on quite a hefty dose of medication, which helps to a certain degree, but I am always in pain and have just learned to live with it over the years.
I do find that for me a hot stone massage helps, as does reflexology, but because of Covid19 I obviously haven't been able to have any for a number of months. I think it's all about finding out what works best for you. xx
I've a hot stone massage booked for next Saturday .... It's not coming quick enough xxx
They are still not allowed to do them over here, as far as I know. xx
I was meant to have one last weekend because they initially said that remedial sports therapists could start back, then they said they couldn't - and apparently they have now been given the go ahead again.
Although beauty salons etc cannot offer massage yet. So I can have a massage from a sports therapists but not in a beauty salon - is it any wonder we're all confused
Yes like Moal61 I have osteoarthritis, DDD, fibro and a couple of other problems thrown in for good measure. I have regular chiropractor sessions, use hot wraps, tens machine, occasionally hypnotherapy and pressure point injections and injections into spine to help with the pain. Injection wise the ones in the neck didn't work for me but the ones in the back of the head did. Case of trial and error to find out what works for you as it is never a case of one size fits all unfortunately.
Hi LiimaY, I have osteoarthritis on my spine, sciatica on top of fibromyalgia. Today I have been diagnosed after 7 years in pain and several misdiagnostics, test after test like nurve conducting study. Now I'm waiting for an MRI scan. My symptoms are getting worse over time.
Did you have to shield because of fibromyalgia? I forgat to ask my doctor and I'm working at the hospital
I have diabetes, osteoporosis, and other spinal problems
I have degenerative back disease which have resulted in 3 slip disc and l have had metal fusion operation done on two of the disc remaining one disc still slip, l am diagnosed with fibromyalgia also and have arthritis on both my knees and hands and am not yet 50years old
Yes I’ve got ddd sciatica and arthritis all over I have bu tran patches amitriptyline and mirtazapine tablets but I’m in pain all the time I don’t know what else would work I just put up with the constant pain and fatigue I must admit it’s getting harder to cope with it I can’t even brush my hair
Yes, I do as well. Sports therapist was the best help for me, but they are expensive, so can't afford it often. Sending hugs
I deal with the arthritis by taking large amounts of hyaluronic acid, 300-600 mg per day.I have done this for ten years now and it works for me. It takes up to 4 months to build up in your system and if it's going to work for you the arthritic pain starts to ease and mine eventually went away. The sciatica I deal with by seeing a specialist spinal manipulator in my home town who basically pushes the 4th lumbar vertebrae off the nerve that causes my pain down the leg. I was told 30 years ago that I had a "fair amount of wear and tear in my spine and I have found that with exercise , physio, diet and supplements, I am managing quite well. it requires constant attention but I live a relatively normal life. Hope this is of some use.
Hi LimaY. Yes, I do have disc degeneration along with Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia but I think there are many diagnosed with this from what I've gathered both reading posts, my experience in NHS and life. Just look after yourself & do what is best for you at times of pain. Having a said that, when my spine feels like it's twisted after doing something inocuous as using the carpet sweeper for less than 10mins, I don't know what to do with myself!
Yes l have all of those. Not alot of fun! And very painful especially during a flare up which l'm just coming out of! Sorry to hear about yours.
I'm not sure what is the best treatment but l have found strong Cocodamol from my GP very good for the pain over a few days and I get a few hours sleep at a time. I hate taking them and l don't drive because they knock me out. Ugh! But l rested for a few days indoors. And I think they helped me over the worst of it.
I am reducing them now as the flare up is reducing.
I'm looking for a good Specialist in my area, Suffolk Cambridge and Norfolk.
I suppose l should ask my GP but l don't really know them because l try to manage it myself. I hate taking strong medication/painkillers for it and that's all GPs seem to offer.
I think I will ask my GP for a referral.
Although l was going to go private, l was so desperate last week!
Sorry about rambling on!
I hope you are feeling better today 😘🥰😍. BernXxxx
