My wife as RLS. There are medications that can help. Have you been referred to the sleep clinic as RLS can be associated with a number of conditions? Obviously from your comment you are having serious problems resting and this may have a serious impact on your general health. My advice would be to speak with your GP. I will warn you that the sleep clinics are quite backed up following COVID and waiting times can be quite long so the quicker you get referred the better.

Thank you Badbessie

I have been under the sleep clinic,They said I do not have sleep apnoea, But I'm still going under more tests, I am chugging along at only 80% of my oxygen, I can be out of breathe so quickly, Scary times,

I wonder, if I wasn't tested for apnoea, They might not have found the rest of these problems, Nothing has been said about RLS, I'm at my GP's on Mon so i'll ask whats been done so far,

hi Debsdelight72,

After a few days of similar non-sleep I feel your abject desperation.

Re RLS, have a try of Soothing Leg Gel by SBC. Not medicated, not prescribed, just a plain old Amazon/qvc product which has worked wonders when placed on lower legs just before bed at night.

All the best to you.

I hope you get some sleep soon x

Thank you Artful_Bodger,

I'm a bit Peed off, I took my norm 100mg Amitriptyline plus 3x fentanol (sorry cant spell) I should not have been awake for that amount of time, I'm in a very strange place,

I asked him if we could take the dogs out at 7 o'clock, I slept for 5hrs, only because Hubby bought lunch up to me, I'm thinking I should maybe just go back to sleep??

If I do,I don't want to be up all night again, I'm glad I don't smoke anymore, I doubt I would have been sat in the shed chain smoking😴,

I brought a cooling mat that is nearly a single bed size on Amazon. When I have restless legs I put my legs on it and it really helps

I have some cooling mats, They are for my dogs in the summer, I don't think they'll mind if I borrowed them,

I'll give them a go, Thank you for your reply

Unless the sleep clinic as wired you up overnight and monitored you then sleep apnea cannot be ruled out. They told me wife they doubted she had sleep apnea until they monitored her. They agreed she had RLS but was found to have periodic limb movement disorder on top of that. My wife was diagnosed as severe in all conditions. In rem sleep she was having over 50 episodes an hour. On her first consultation they asked me many questions and I told them it was like sleeping next to someone having their own football match whilst asleep. I even showed them a short video of exactly what my wife was doing whilst asleep. My wife is on ripinalol which as greatly helped .

been there done that Badbessie,

It was a right pain in the butt! But it showed something that needed to be addressed and to rule it out a very painful blood test drawn from my inner wrist, We only had to wait 10mins for the result because they have a blood unit down the corner, which was good,

No! to the sleep apnea but somethings raising it's ugly mug, It did show that I only had 80% of oxygen, So I just keep going to appointments, Maybe they'll say I have to wear an oxygen mask? I don't think so (shrugged shoulders) I'm not worried about it too much otherwise they would have got me in at my GP a lot sooner

Hi I too get RLS. I have started taking Magnesium as read that can help. It is also said to help with tiredness and fatigue. I have noticed a change in my RLS, it is definitely a lot less of a problem now.I know everyone has differing opinions on herbal remedies, but I thought I would give it go. Also consult your Dr or Pharmacy as too whether it doesn't interact with any prescribed meds you may be on.

I'll ask my GP on Monday If I can try a cream, I cant take any more blooming pills that's for sure, Thanks anyway, I use to only take herbal remedies for anything and everything,

Until we moved to Manchester! We had to get out of there after 2 years even my Hubby was warned by his GP, staying there would kill us both, That was 8years ago,

We are both quite ill with this and that, We are calmed where we live now Better, quieter place to live( Not Manchester) Not even stressed apart from the norm,

Thank you for your reply FibrowbieJab

Triple source magnesium and I have not had RLS since. I still get twitchy worming muscles but that’s easy to cope with compared to those dreadful kicky legs at night. It’s got to be worth a try. 👍

Hi Debs, my first thought was possibly magnesium/ potassium levels? but whether either can be taken with the medication you take, I really don't know. . I used eat a banana before bed when I had restless legs. I tried magnesium oil to rub on the skin but it made me itch. Would they do a blood test to see if you're lacking in those vitamins? Bit of a long shot but might be worth asking.

Take care x

Hello saj01, Another been there, done that I have very low vit D (I don't go outside enough)

Folic acid and Zinc, I'm wondering if my statin would cover some of these? I have no clue until GP on Monday

Thank for your reply
