Really struggling with severe pain. Waiting for my GP to get funding for a nerve block injection so there's a very long wait. Any ideas on how to cope with severe pain when meds aren't strong enough? Will have to try an alternative and someone has suggested Pregablin instead of Gabapentin but any tips on how to cope with the stress of living with pain? Please don't suggest chocolate lol 🤗🤔

Hi, sorry to hear you are struggling so much. Yes, pregabalin sometimes works better than gabapentin for some people (works great for me, gabapentin did nothing). A combination of tramadol and paracetamol also works for me in conjunction with the pregabalin and mirtazapine (I'm on mirtazapine as an anti depressants, but discovered it helps my leg pain)

However with chronic pain sometimes medication is not the answer - and nothing works. There are many non-medical ways of managing pain - pacing, lifestyle changes, exercise/activity, meditation, mindfulness, heat/cold, distraction are just some that I use. supplements can sometimes help - CBD, magnesium etc. It's often a case of trial and error to find what works best for you. The Pain Toolkit is an excellent resource paintoolkit.org

Hi,I was on Gabapentin to help back pain,it didn’t do much for the pain, but it did make me feel weird.

I stopped it after a couple of months. I tried Amitryptline, which helped,me.recover movement in my back.

I think Hazel Angels post has lots of good ideas.

Sometimes lots of small changes may help.

I hope this helps you. I’m sorry. I can’t be of any more use.take care.
