Restless leg syndrome

Hi All and hope everyone is doing as well as they can in these unprecedented times.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about a year ago but noticed pain in both my legs especially in the mid thigh area a couple of years ago prior to this.

I have had a look at this online and it suggests restless leg syndrome, especially at night time during sleep and it's usually linked to a long term health condition.

It leaves me extremely exhausted and the pain is unbearable in my legs.

Does anyone else suffer from this? If so then did any medication or techniques help please?

Will be grateful for any advice.

Thank you all very much.

Ash.

Thank you Pbyllis.

I will see my doctor, but due to the pandemic it is becoming increasingly difficult to book an appointment.

I will see them whenever I can.

Thanks for your kind information 🙂

My surgery lets you book a appointment by phone with G P

I have used it twice since everything has changed hope you can to.

Your surgery is a good 'un Pbyllis, mine seems to be inundated by appointments where you have to wait weeks for one to become available.

My surgery and many others in our area do triage appointments where you ring and ask for the doctor to give you a ring back which they inevitably do the same day so I hope this will help as this is how I managed to get any extra medication I need and as you also suffer from restless legs then I suggest you ring up and ask the quinine medication although I found it of no help unfortunately but I know many do. good luck take care stay safe

I had RLS last year. Couldn't keep my legs still. I took amitriptyline and it stopped it.

Thanks for your reply Entela15.

Unfortunately I have a bad reaction to all antidepressants so I'm unable to take any form of them.

Many thanks though 😄

Magnesium citrate 1000mg might help. You would have to take it regularly to really see an effect.

5 HTTP supplement as an alternative to Amitripyline, plus I have found Evening Primrose oil/flaxseed oil taken regularly as it can also be worsened by hormonal fluctuations.

B vit-complex

Iron

Avoid stimulants like tea and coffee towards evening.

I suffer from rls, which is at its worst at night (or if I lie down during day for a sleep ... Hubby can tell when I'm falling asleep by the increase in my legs jumping)

I was on meds, which helped for a bit then stopped working. I now drink tonic water for the quinine, and also a herbal tea blend with 6% CBD which seems to be helping

Hi

Magnesium spray directly onto legs works really well for mine, muscle cramps, aches & restless legs. I have bottles of the stuff everywhere, used it for years and can't recommend it highly enough.

Hi sorry to hear your getting restless legs it’s awful isn’t it I use magnesium tablets and I also use magnesium spray. Hope this helps for you

I've suffered with RL for years, I cant even lie or sit down so I had to walk around constantly which was a huge issue with my fibro. My consultant psychiatrist put me on pramapixol many years ago which I started taking once a night, then I had to rise to two. I couldnt live without these tablets I honestly couldn't, as life without these tablets would be hell.

Apparently it can be hereditary or side affects from other meds. My dad suffers just as bad as me, so I expect it runs in our family.

Try and talk to your dr if you can, I know its difficult atm, but I'm sure they can help.

Hope you get some help. Good luck. X
