A neighbour is using my newly acquired disabled parking bay. Local council say he is within his rights as it hasn't gone through legal process. I'm in Scotland. This can take months up to a year. Can anybody help?

Disabled Parking
We had a neighbours bay painted about 2 months ago and a notification has just went up about it about a week ago and its notifying that it will become enforceable. Also in Scotland.
I’ve got a friend who had one put in years ago. But a neighbour has started using it if they get home first. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do if they have a blue badge which in my mind is wrong if it was specifically put in for you. This is the law though 😐
I don't know if it's changed... But it used to be that anyone with a blue badge could use a disabled parking bay, even though that bay was provided for a specific person - unless the bay had the house number marked.
Does your neighbour have a disabled badge or just bring ignorant and using your space? If that’s the case I would explain to your neighbour that it’s been put there for a reason, to help you x
In N. Ireland if you get a disabled parking bay at the front of your home, anyone who has a disabled parking badge and displays it can use the parking bay.
Anyone with a blue badge can park in the bay.
By ‘Legal Process’ do you mean your bay hasn’t yet got a signpost up? And ‘Disabled’ painted on the tarmac? As soon as that is done it should be a proper, enforceable disabled bay and anyone parking there without a disabled permit could get a ticket. I live in London and was given a number I could phone to get cars towed away from my bay if it ever was a problem. The bay is however not for you personally so if your neighbour or anyone else also has a Blue Badge, they can park in the bay outside your house. If your neighbour has a Blue Badge I would perhaps suggest to him to get on to the Council and get his own bay.
Hello a disabled parking bay outside your house on a public road can be used by any road user badge holder or not. The only exception is if the parking space has a visible sign stating Blue badge holders only.
Ask your neighbour to apply for a bay as well ao not sharing 1. Sadly they are not numbered.
If it is a Blue Badge , disabled only parking bay, unfortunately anyone with a Blue Badge can use it. But here in Birmingham most now have, this parking space is for the use of the registered driver only, which is issued by the local council, it doesn’t have the persons name but they are given a pass which matches number if they have people parking in their spot, the police, traffic wardens can also enforce illegal parking in a registered to a particular person/ household. It may be worth enquiring if there are such rules in your area. It’s really bad that your neighbour is using it as they are obviously aware that you require the space and have applied for it, good luck x
Unfortunately in Scotland the law states that anybody with a blue badge can park in 'Your' disabled bay which I find to be a silly law but common courtesy should prevail in such circumstances with other blue badge holders refraining from using disabled bays clearly marked up for somebody specifically...
