Hello, new to this page. I’ve been dealing with severe anxiety this year but recently

I’ve developed joint pain, I am 28. It started with swollen hands in the mornings then went to the wrists.. to my

Shoulders, knees and ankles. The pain is so bad that I have broken sleep. Never been diagnosed with anything yet however, I did have blood work done to check off arthritis and or carpal tunnel. The doctor said it could be fibromyalgia or stress. My blood tests were very low magnesium, so I started supplements and still no improvement. So my doctor prescribed my Amitriptyline 10mg. Supposedly a antidepressant and for nerve pain. Has anyone experienced this type of pain and tried this medication? I just don’t know what other tests I need

Done to figure out why I am in so much pain. I can’t even open a baby bottle in the mornings and or pick up my baby without pain etc. taking all advice! Thank you kindly

Morning. If your doctor refers you to a rheumatologist you hopefully will get answers once your doctor has ruled out anything else, you have my empathy with a little baby, yes trying to open things can be hard, I quite often drop things now with my grip, you will get to have a chat here with others , some friendly advice and helpful tips, people who truly understand what you are going through on a daily basis. I did have anxiety quite badly at one time,, trial and error but eventually my doctor put me on duloxtene and it has worked well for me personally, no anxiety or feeling down as it is understandable when coping with a condition . Hopefully you will be seeing your doctor very soon, make some notes what is happening as quite often we go to a appointment and don’t remember all the questions we want to ask, take care of yourself and any help from family friends is always helpful to get some rest. Xx

Hi, I haven’t been on this page for ages, but it was my go to page when first diagnosed with Fibro. It takes a while for an accurate diagnosis, my dr did sooooo many tests until at last he said it had to be Fibromyalgia, as it wasn’t anything else! I had never heard of it, but six years on and I’m pleased to say many more people have heard of this as an illness.

To answer your question, I was put on Amitriptyline but the didn’t suit me as they knocked me out. I use them now as a way to sleep when having a bad time, but one packet lasts me about nine months, as I don’t want to get used to them as they stop working for me. I am on Tramadol and Celecoixib, which work Well for me.

The problem with Fibro you need to find what suits you, so you manage your pain. Everyone is different and unfortunatly it does take time to get things right. My advise is never think you are a nuisance to your dr, keep going back until you have the painkillers to suit you.

Hi, I wont repeat all the good advice that others have given you on here but I use amitriptyline and find it helpful at night to help just take that last edge off the pain and still my brain down! I have arthritis in my knees and back and fibro, also various other problems due to too much radiotherapy during my cancer treatment. We are a very friendly bunch on here and there's usually someone whose been in the same situation as you. xx
