Hi I'm on a strong dose of Co-codamol 30/500mg and it's damaging my hearing and also causing tinittis. Has anyone also had this problem??

If not be warned taking it between 1-4 years can cause hearing loss that could be perminent.

Mines come and gone I'm praying it will come back but my hearing is not good rightnow

I also took a high dose of Co-codamol many years ago, and now wonder if it was the main cause of my hearing loss with tinnitus. it never suited me. I take Panadol Extra, liquid form, now.

Hi have been taking a higher dose of codeine 60mg four times a day for around twenty years and I don’t have any hearing side effects from it. I suppose it’s like everything everyone reacts differently to different drugs. I’m currently having a lot of eye twitching in one eye which is driving me nuts but like everything else I don’t suppose anything can be done about it. I hope your hearing gets better.

I've had eye twitching and eye pain as well. I have had to see my optician a few times. The pain is caused by dryness which a lot of people with fibro get; the twitching is a muscular thing and as this horrible illness affects everything it can also affect your eyes.

My eyes are far from dry they water like crazy for no apparent reason.

Hi. I've been on this dosage now for several years and it hasn't affected my hearing. Unfortunately, all drugs have some side effects and everyone reacts differently. Maybe you should talk to your doctor about coming off it (this will have to be managed gradually. I hope your hearing can then improve for you.

I'm on the same dosage, now I'm beginning to wonder if that's the cause of my Tinnitus. Makes me wonder, is it worth taking these meds as the side effects are sometimes worse than the condition they're taken for. Love n Hugs. Liz x🤗

If the level of pain experienced needs the pain med to relieve it maybe it's worth it, it can be a problem that arises if pain level is exaggerated for other reasons though.

Liz thanks for your reply.

Yes it does cause the tinnitus and hearing loss.

I still have it at the moment and a wooshing sound I hope it comes back.

I have stopped mine.

It was awful yesterday the pain and was under my infared lamp to try help.

The side effects of medications is very difficult for us fibro warriors as we are super sensitive. And I agree with you liz.

Gentle hug x

Deborah
