Heat vs cold?

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone feels that cold eases the tingling pain and heat due to nerve damage? I've read a few posts where pple say hot baths and such ease the pain of fibro, and it sure does ease aches and pains in the joints and muscles. I suffer greatly with flare up nightly of nerve pain in my hands and feet to the point for the last 4 yrs I wear frozen socks for bed. My bedroom is like a refrigerator windows always open and radiator off xx

I have found when I have flare ups of sciatica my hot water bottle has been easing me a little.

I have a swelling on my back at the min which my doctor has said is inflammation and to put cold press on to take swelling down. Not helped

My arms also swell.

Heat has helped me weather it be baths or hot water bottle.

Take care 😊

There is a yoga position called the pigeon that literally got rid of my sciatica! Google it!

Got to admit for the most times I'm a hot babe 😎 But then there is other times nothing but my ice gel pack that helps. For me it all depends on the type of pain I have at the time xx

I have the flu so should be keeping warm but have both feet dangling out of bed because of the burning and tingling. Got so bad I got up for 10 minutes so I could stand on the cold, stone floor in the kitchen.x

Every night I wear socks that have been wet thru and put in the freezer all day, the relief it gives me is amazing!! Thru the day if my burning gets too bad I sit with my feet in a bowl of cold water. It's not the best of remedies bt we have to do what works for us.

Ditto. I feel better when it’s cold. The heat and warmth make me ill. Other than on this site I don’t know anyone who can’t stand heat of any kind. Sometimes I feel such a freak especially when most are looking forward to the summer and I’m dreading it. X

Oh thankyou!! Someone like me 😆😆. It's awful isn't it. 15 yrs I've lived with my bedroom windows open, even if snow on ground. Stress also sets me off does it effect yrself? xx

I didn’t think that it was caused by stress but now I realise it’s worse when I’m stressed (even slightly) also when I’m excited ( no not that kind lol) Shopping and standing in queues too. I can end up soaking. If I have a breeze on my face I’m not as bad so I carry a hand held fan( plus spare batteries) around at all times. Even sitting in Costa. In fact any time anywhere my hair can end up wet through. The medics all say it’s a faulty thermostat probably a symptom of fm. I’m glad there’s someone who understands too x

I definitely agree, when I get into bed and my body is being electrocuted! I the duvet goes off, window always open and no pjs, it does help a lot Pip x

I hope we all get better, it's one thing though the day and another at night! My nerve pain kicks in if I walk too much and if I use my arms alot thru day bt mainly night times it drives me insane. Xx
