My David used them, very successfully, for over 12 years. He came off them about 4 yrs ago.
I am not sure if all GPs prescribed them now due to the misuse and adverse publicity.
He didn't have any side effects until he reached a very high dose...that's when he stopped.
Getting the to stick can be difficult but a little hydrocautizone cream before adding paych works well.
Also they are supposed to last 72 hrs but they don't. Maybe something to go alongside would be helpful.
Please remember though...research has shown that opiates aren't designed for long term pain relief. Higher doses don't necessarily give more relief.

I have used these patches for many years without any difficulty the only problem is that you become habituated to the dose and then need a larger dose. I was put on them as I cannot take tramadol orally as they made very sick, I did not have this issues with Fentanyl. I do know some people have difficulty keeping the patches on. I put mine on my arm but prior to changing the patches every 3 days) I exfoliate where I wish to put the patch, this has helped keep them on.
I would not recommend these to anyone I felt zonked out a lot of the time without any pain relief. But they work for some and not others.
