Is anyone else on a fentanyl patch for Fibro pain? I just want to find out people's experiences on it, I have been on it a few years and I hate the way I feel on changeover day as if it's running out before the 72 hours, anyway message me if you have any messages.Thanks.

Fentanyl
yes I’ve been on them now for two years. It’s horrible on changeover days, the sweating and aches it’s like I have flu sometimes. Soon as I start feel like rubbish I change it even if day two. You can always put xtra script in early as you can just say they fell off so you can change early if needed. It’s just not worth the side effects sometimes but it works to an extent. I’m only on 50mgs wouldn’t like to go any higher x
I was on them for months and became increasingly deranged as the time I was able to cope before changing became shorter and shorter. I view it as a drug that should not be used long term. I cannot describe the side effects here as they are too personal. Pain levels were good but only until the patch became less effective. An increasingly shorter time. I spent most of my time either high and manic or on the way down and hidden in a darkened room. Hideous
I used it some time ago, I used the patch 25mcg and I went to sleep with the patch on, I thought I wasn't going to wake up. I wouldn't use it again. Tens machine is good but the best way is to get the central nervous system under control through a gradual exercise program. It took me years and I still need opioids. I am not out of the woods yet but I would never use fentanyl again. It doesn't matter how bad it gets. The side effects are not worth it to me.
Most of the research I have read recently accepts that opiods are not good for treating chronic pain such as from fibro. In fact they can make the pain worse. And of course they are dangerous. Much more effective and safer is medical cannabis. Read up on it and talk to your GP or pain specialist. Most specialists I have spoken to point to good sleep hygiene, gentle exercise including things like tai chi and yoga and meditation. Good Luck.
Hi Chronic 40. Does the Fentanlyn Patch work? Did you get it prescribed by Dr? I have asked for pain patches and alwats been refused and told they do not prescribe such thing for Fibromyalgia cause it wouldn't make any difference
Hi, I've been on fentanyl for almost 10 years. I was originally given it for my back, started on 25 and went up to 50, but after having a discectomy in 2015, and that making my back worse, I was made to decrease to 37.5 before they would put a spinal cord stimulator in 2019. I have been on that strength since. I've suffered with sweating excessively for about 20 years, so I do have to change them quite frequent. But when I've been really ill with other conditions I have, I have forgotten to change them in the timescale, and then had sweats and shivers. I am on loads of tablets, which some are other opioid types, including oramorph, but I would be in withdrawal if I were to stop now. I'm 52, and mainly housebound with my health, and if I'm honest, all the tablets I've been on for all these years, have probably caused me to be a prisoner in my home.
Hi. Im on a high dose of fentynal. I can't manage without it. It has more or less saved my life. But, like you, when it starts running out, I feel so so awful.
