typing in CAPITALS

Hi All, if you have been on this forum or others then the issue of typing in all capitals will have come up. On the internet it is considered SHOUTING and often used for emphasis. On here we don't bother about it too much but when a whole post is done this way or it is repeated then an admin may reach out and pm the user or make a gentle comment on the post.

As well as shouting, people with sight issues or dyslexia will find it more difficult to read. People will ignore the post as well as it is straight out harder to read so you will have less answers.

So if you could please keep this in mind when posting. Accidental caps lock will happen and if you want to quickly get it all sorted without retyping it all out then the internet comes to the rescue. This site convertcase.net will allow you to convert to sentence case.

words in CAPS are fine and I was using some above to make the point. It is great to highlight something but there are courses for accessibility on the web and in print and ALL CAPS will make it harder for anyone to read as the eye will become more tired but the visually impaired will find it harder still.

If it was difficult to type and changing case was an issue then all lower case would be better than all caps.

I agree, the odd word here and there is fine. But like you say a whole post in CAPS can be very hard to read to the end especially if very detailed.

Thank you for highlighting and posting about this issue that can effect many people with fibro and other health issues like migraine etc desquinn xx

I actually find it hard to read a paragraph of cap letters, I do the odd cap word but that's it. I have poor concentration and attention span so yeah, I probably wouldn't read a post if it was full on cap letters.

Thanks for posting about it :)

At least I would be able to read it.

Since the new 'format' I need to squint hence I only look at headlines occasionally on this site now.

Same device, prescription specs checked annually, why oh why?????????

Hi there, great to see you it's been a while. I am sorry but we are not sure what you mean by the new format? There does not appear to be any changes the admin team are aware of after I checked it out with them. But it is possible to tweak your text size on your own PC or what ever you use. I have mine set to medium text size In my settings.

I am sorry your having problems reading the posts. May I ask have you checked your settings? xx

I haven't actually. I'm now an intermittent user, sometime ago I found the text too small to read. Format was the wrong word to use, couldn't get what I wanted to say.

If I tried to change anything I'm afraid that I'd never find anything 'normal' again. Probably all in my head as I used to love a challenge. Just too tired to attempt them these days.

It wasn't meant as a criticism but an observation :-(

Thanks Mo, it always felt good to be encouraging and have fun.

After a cancer op in 2017 I don't have much of a day as I sleep all morning even though I sleep well at night.

Walk my wonderful Assistance dog (who has learnt to get my leg into bed, I'm having a hip replacement next month) lots of time spent training her. Then sore eyes in the evening, drops several times as I forgrt in the day.

Apologies for typos, I can't see :D

Definitely no apologies needed. I am truly sorry you have been through so much already and still have more trials to Come. I know and understand about poor eyesight. To me I think it's one of my most frustrating problems it drives me to distraction. Glad to see you have still managed to retain your sense of humour. I wish you all the best with your hop and hope for a speedy recovery. 🤗🤗🤗
