I recently bought a vibroprower machine, has anybody tried one. I have only been on it once and have been in more pain ever since. I have been trying to research and some say the pain gets worse before it gets better.

Oscillating was better rather than vibrating was the last guidance I remember reading on this types of machines? I have only tried one of the Vibrating plates once and felt neither benefit or worse. Hope this helps :)

Thank you, I am off to physio tomorrow, will ask them. I am not sure if it's the stress if xmas or the machine.

It's a machine you stand on that vibrates. It us supposed to work all your muscles. Have a look on ideal World website or You Tube.

It is quite powerful, they have them in gym to build and strengthen muscles so not meant to be relaxing, I am afraid.

I tried it - I was fine the first time as I only did about 3 minutes. The second time I was longer and the next day was so painful.

Don’t overdo it be gentle on your selve, start off low settings and short time use it every other day to start with and build up the time and the setting till you are comfortable with using it iif you are getting pain then you are trying to get results to quickly this is a slow gentle exercise regimen that exercises your muscles by vibrations setting your machine to high to start with will cause you more harm than good. Read the booklet go on line for more user instructions.

Agree ! Start low and slow with knees slightly bent. I used one over Christmas and loved it - but it did create neck pain - quickly resolved. I was then told how to use it correctly - made all the difference ! Sometimes less is more ...

Hi Norway,

I’ve tried one of these too and realised that the vibration was percussive, like a hammer action: not good. I got off after less than 2 minutes as it really hurt my hips and back.

Look into cycloidal massage therapy as it is gentle but deep and more important, it’s medically accredited.

Unless you’re in a hospital where this is used it’s not available on the NHS and is not cheap.

I have to be careful what I write, so as not to advertise on our forum, as I worked with and use this therapy myself.

But I advise that you steer clear of any devices without medical endorsement.

Good luck

Xx

Do it, there are so many things out there that promise to help but this therapy has helped me to cope drug free for 15 years until recently when I developed myoclonus (involuntary muscle spasms) and needed meds. Horrible.

Also, my daughter is a clinical hypnotherapist and helps with All pain to Go which hypnotically deletes all pain memories and allows only new pain signals to come through.

Between the two; although I have pain, of course, life is bearable.

Hi Norway2018,

I have been using my oscillating Vibrapower Powerplate for 3 years now and love it, as it has improved my mobility enormously.

From trail and error, I’ve discovered that I don’t get on with the two slowest speed settings, so I start at a number 3.

I’d advise starting with doing 1 minute and work up slowly. I was (I can’t use it at the moment due to a complications following a severely crushed leg), using it 5 days a week, with a day off mid week another at the weekend. If you over do it, it can be uncomfortable or even painful.

As you build up the time, make sure you do the warm up exercises and cool down ones - I adapted my routine to the things I could do and built on that. I can now do stretches that were impossible before.

In the beginning, I sat on a stool and just put my feet on it. Then my OH put a grab rail on the wall for me and I could stand on it.

I used a garden kneeling pad to do the kneeling exercises - in the beginning, I struggled to do a minute and found getting up really difficult, but the more I did the easier I could get up. I managed to work up to a maximum of 5 minutes kneeling.

At my peak I was doing 15 minutes a day, 5 times a week. I felt great afterwards, but it took two and half years for me to work up to that level. I was including short bursts of high speed movement as well (my machine is an older model without the high intensity interval mode).

I can’t wait to start using it again, because I miss the feel good factor and having decent muscle tone.

I hope you enjoy using it and benefit from it, as I have.

I had thought about getting one, then I read that if you have back problems you should avoid them like the plague, so that was that, obviously not for me

Hi, my logic does not support the idea of a vibration type of machine to ease pain. I use the Tens machine from Revitive (it has the foot plate and pads) and find that regular use is both a distraction and a benefit. The basis of using electrical impulses to work muscles in specific areas seems a logical thing to try . . . . but that's just me.

Good luck with whatever you try.

Hi yes I have an oscillating vibro machine. You have to keep using them. Even if its only 10 min a day. The only thing I don't like is the stinging and itching I get.

Hey there Norway 2018,

I brought one for myself a few months ago, to help get my lower back and hip muscles stimulated to relief pain. At first it was a bit odd to use, but now it's something I use on a regular basis, and it really does help to loosen things up.

I'm not sure how big your unit is, or what it settings it has, but with mine it is variable speed and you can do more than just stand on it. But I have found it to be incredibly beneficial and feels like I am getting a full body workout, without the energy being used.

So it's worthwhile persevering with it, and you are likely to feel a little sore initially because it's activating muscles that are not being used, as bit like going to the gym for the first time in years.

But good luck. Sx :)

Thank you, it's good to hear, I fully intend to try it again. I think I I was a bit too keen and used it for about 20 mins.i need to build it up gradually.

I bought one thinking it would be a gentle way to improve circulation and muscle tone as the reviews all sang its praises. I was surprised how painful it was to use. I only managed 2 short goes approx 10 mins, I itched like crazy and my muscles felt like they went into spasm, I haven't been on since although did read of people starting off with as little as 2 minutes a day and build up tolerance slowly. I'm just not that patient lol

Ive got one of these machines. I have used it twice so far and not felt any benefit one way or the other yet. I think it will take regular sessions to build up an inner core strength. I have had no extra pain from using it.
