Funnily enough I was actually thinking the same thing. After seeing a consultant in pain management that I was not at all impressed with. He made out a lot of sufferers need to help themselves more and not expect doctors to fix our condition I was furious he also asked me what I thought they should do I said umm I’ve been sent here to see your from my specialist crazy hey. Let’s hope the cbd oil can help x

Wow your consultant sounds very uneducated on chronic pain! Have you tried cbd? May be worth a thought. I was very sceptical but gave it a try yesterday, took a while but I actually had my pain reduced a lot once it had kicked in which is huge for me as I am in constant pain.

Maybe you should ask to speak to a different consultant?

I wish you all the luck xx

Unfortunately my consultant seems to have the same attitude. Having been on nearly everything for pain, depression and anxiety, over the last 27 years, I did resort to getting CBD oil thr' friends last year.

I was getting really sick from taking pharmaceuticals.

My consultant prescribed Nabolone, which is a synthetic marijuana. Absolutely useless & a horrible drug. She said that it was illegal for our Doctors to prescribe Nabolone.

She was also aware that many people were self medicating on CBD oil,& basically said the if you can get it, then 'work away', & use it.

She also prescribed lidocaine patches. My doctors can't get it or prescribe it. The doctor I spoke to last week told me that consultants seem to handing out prescriptions for stuff which is too expensive for local practices to justify in their budget.

Having said that. I strongly believe that they could seriously cut costs,by making CBD oil more readily available.

So there does seem to be a cost factor coming into it.

I did ask her again for CBD , but she said that they were having problems with supply &'that FM sufferers would be far down the line from being prescribed it.

Love n light 🙏🏾

Hi Eclegmata, it sounds like your Dr saying to you if you can get it (the cbd oil) work away with it, as if it was illegal to use or something. If you go onto CBD Users UK that will let you know which companies are good to buy decent CBD oil from, and some are much cheaper than others. Good luck

Having tried all sorts of medicinal pain relief, a friend recommended it. I bought it from a local high street chain. It is a tiny droppered bottle. The liquid tastes foul but, when in pain, needs must. I do find it takes the edge of the pain, and, although expensive, is used in tiny amounts. We should really talk to our doctors first to see if there may be reactions with medication already taken. Don't take it, just to try; take it out of desperation only, as I did.

Thanks for your reply. I am in constant pain everyday so gave it a try yesterday and it dramatically reduced my pain levels so I am hopeful that this can help when I am in this great amount of pain.

The liquid actually tasted like tea bags lol 😂 not great but as you say when in pain needs must.

Wish you well 😊 xx

If you buy the Cbd capsules from health span this avoids the taste completely. I use these with success and they work within an hour for me.

Hi englishkiwis, I think you'll find the high st chain (H&B?) now do CDB capsules, which don't taste yucky. I get mine in capsules from Healthspan, but if you prefer oil, they have just brought out a dropper version which apparently tastes much better (I haven't tried it tho').

Yes I take it. No contraindications for me. Took three weeks to become really effective. I have been so much better since taking it and apart from the odd paracetamol and 10 mgs Amytriptyline nightly, I’m not now on any other meds so for me, that speaks for itself. Because CBD does not contain THC there are no mind altering effects. Sending healing wishes to you also😊

Thank you for this. I am so happy for you. I found it took the edge off the pain so I am hopeful 😊

No side effects either which is great.

Same for me Alb2, although I found relief after a week or so. I'm also on Amitrip and paracetamol, I don't need so many painkillers now I'm taking CDB.

I found CBD oil really helpful, I don’t take it daily just when I really need it. I found I got results soon after taking it personally but I suspect the others medications I take helped that along slightly. I wouldn’t write it off as being useless at all 🙂

Thank you for this 😊 I tried it yesterday for the first time and was hugely sceptical but I actually was very happy to find that for the first time in a long time it helped take the edge off my pain levels!

Hopefully it wasn’t just a one off feeling.

I’m so happy for you that this helps you! I hope to get the same results.

Kind healing wishes to you xx

in reply to Lou_mogz

Good morning lou_mogz, I was the same as you slightly skeptical to be honest, for us I think anything that even takes the tiniest of pain away means the world! When I use it it helps no doubt? I just prefer to use it intermittently so it has a better benefit when I do take it. Have a good day 😀

For me, it’s the only thing that works. Been on it a couple of months now and I would say my pain is 90% better and haven’t felt this better for about 25 years. I use a combination of balm, spray an capsules from lovecbd.org and patches for my back from hemp botanics.

Lou_mogz profile image
Lou_mogz in reply to Jchrispin

I bought mine from a shop and it is very expensive! I will look on the link you gave thank you. I’m really happy that you have found something that helps you xx

Jchrispin profile image
Jchrispin in reply to Lou_mogz

It isn’t cheap but the benefits outweigh the cost. I’ve never been able to take prescription meds so have used ibuprofen but I’ve now got gastritis so I couldn’t take anything. CBD has given me the relief I needed. My pain has been controlled by lifestyle changes up until now. Hopefully I can start to live again.

Yes, got 2 samples from CBD Brothers. I chose one low strength ( white) and one high strength ( blue) Both worked but the blue one worked quicker with more pain relief. Just looked online yesterday to buy full size bottle.

I bought a 10-12 oz bottle of organic Calif Hemp oil and I just wasn't sure how to take it for my Fibro or for Hubby's parkinsons, so when a friend had a bad case if Shingles I gave it to him. He used it directly on the skin and it didn't help at all but perhaps he should've persisted. In his town there's a store on main street that advertises CBD oil. Is that different that Hemp? I'm not knowledgeble at all. I take Cymbalta and Norco for pain with an extra tylenol at times. I have Xanax too but the paper read out said not to take it with Norco which I had for quite awhile, but then had problems with lower intestines so stopped taking Xanax. I seem ok but IBS does hit once in awhile. Just not sure why. I plan to ask pharmacist...if he's there...he's good about answers. Another paper read out said 2 of Hubby's meds taken together can cause high BP, and twice he fell for no reason, so he has stopped the 2nd med. Doing ok with tremors until he's due for med again....only takes it at night, but has trouble moving legs and is sleepy a lot. Another question for Pharmacist I guess. I use 1/2 provigil for daytime sleepiness and it does perk me up but afriad to give it to him. You never know how one will react so I worry why the 2 conflicting ones for PD were giving to him. Wish us luck figuring it out...he doesn't want to go to Drs. anymore.

I really feel for you having to go through everything you and your partner have! I found after trying the cbd yesterday that my pain was reduced so am hopeful 😊 sounds like you need to speak to your pharmacist they seem to be a lot more helpful for us! I hope you find a source to all your medical needs.

Sending healing wishes your way xx

You need to get a high strength one and preferably a pure one. I use one called entourage from love CBD which helps with everything (look up the entourage effect). It’s even helped with my mental state as well. Good luck - my mum lives with me and has Parkinson’s but I’ve not managed to persuade her to try it yet.

E3178 profile image
E3178 in reply to Jchrispin

Yes, I also use entourage with success.

I am currently trying several different Cbd meds to find what is best for me. I am battling pain and possibly anxiety with stomach probs which keep happening. Don't know if it's the fibro or if it's caused by anxiety attacks which last for days. Raw gut feeling, nausea, bloating. Etc.

I have just started taking the lowest dose capsules from health span twice a day plus 5 drops of blue edition from Cbd brothers at night.

I am also taking valerian capsules night and morning.

I find dealing with the pain enough but the stomach issues make me feel so ill.

I don't take meds from doctors as they contain fillers which make me feel worse.

I am hoping that the Cbd during the day plus the night time will help..

Jchrispin profile image
Jchrispin in reply to E3178

If you have stomach issues, the cbd oil might work better as you hold it under your toungue to get it straight into the bloodstream (a bit like angina medication). Also the balm is good. I usually use the oil (in spray form) at night in the hope it will help with the gastritis. I get tummy problems but can’t work out what causes it. If I went to the doctors they would put it down to IBS so I just try and manage it myself.

E3178 profile image
E3178 in reply to Jchrispin

Yes, thanks I hadn't thought of that. I do take the drops at night and it gets me to the relaxed stage quite quickly. I have just ordered more capsules so I will have to use them.

I wondered if they will all work together to keep the cbd in my system so I will benefit eventually.

It is all trial and error and will keep working at it. Thanks.

I use a combination of capsules and oil (20mg capsules morning and lunch and one spray of oil in the evening). I also put a patch on my lower spine if I’m going to do anything (40mg over 4 days). This works well for me.

Hi there I use cbd regularly I found Holland and Barrett now do them in a capsule form which for me I find works much better than the drops you take one in the morning and one at night if needed my pain levels have dropped to the point many days I can get away with just two tramadol in the morning I'm normally on 8 of those a day it is defo worth the try so see if you benefit from them too I also use hemp patches which u can leave on for 18 hrs a time if a flare is around xxx hope this helps

I have fibro and chronic knee and back pain. My pain clinic Consultant is very nice but to be honest there seems to be very little he can do for me except pain relief and he doesn't like giving out a lot of meds. I now am only on tramadol. Last year I gave him some fibro magazines to keep and showed him the various adverts on CBD oil. He said he had MS patients who didn't get much relief from this and I now realise that medics can't really comment on CBD. I didn't try it at the time as he didn't recommend me taking it but the knee and back pain got so bad I bought some and I let him know that the knee pain especially was reduced.

He wrote to my GP recently saying this. I went with the CBD oil company advised in the fibro mags which is a reputable one. The companies cannot advise as in the past when I contacted them on what oil will help with your condition as they are not allowed to now, so I was advised to join CBD Users Uk site and you can get any advice through them. So many are getting relief with using the oil. The one I use is 800mg spray £48.99 but it lasts for ages. I'm not sure if I can say what company I buy from but the CBD Users site will give you some of the best oils to buy. I am going to try another type which gets a good name but will be a bit cheaper for me once my next bottle is finished. Reviews on the Holland/Barrett one haven't been good for a lot of people but we are all different.

Advice is always start low and slow till it gets into your system then you can increase it and you should leave at least 2/4 hrs between meds. They advise you speak to your GP (I would especially if you are on blood thinning meds or have other serious health problems) but I didn't know this at the time and take blood pressure meds also but have had no side effects whatsoever. Good luck everyone!

I’ve been on CBD for a few years now and I’ve spent countless hours researching and learning about CBD and trying out different types.

I find it works really well for me. There are lots of health benefits from taking CBD, which are well documented and safe, though misinformation is widespread on the internet, including Wikipedia. It is not in the interests of the big pharmaceutical companies for people to take it instead of medication!

👉 Please bare in mind, I’m not qualified in anyway, so all I’m doing is letting you know what I’m doing.

❗️Never take CBD abroad, even to countries where it is legal. It’s not worth the risk.

🤔 The first thing to say is that as with anything, we all tend to react differently, so there is an element of trial and error, to find what works for you. I’m on my 8th or 9th type, from at least 3 companies, so don’t give up too quickly.

⏰ CBD can take three or four weeks to start working, I was lucky and got good results in a few days.

🤐 You need to hold the oil, paste or aqua forms under your tongue or against the roof of your mouth for 2 - 3 minutes, so it can be absorbed into your blood stream.

🌞 I am currently using Simply CBD’s Aqua Entourage. The entourage effect includes the terpenes that are beneficial in themselves, but added together are more than the sum of the individual components, most reputable CBD will have some terpenoids.

The Aqua, is water based as opposed to oil based & it’s much stronger, because much more is absorbed. I take Aqua Entourage 400, which is more expensive than the 200, but I’m not taking any fibro meds.

I’d advise starting with the Aqua Entourage 200 and buying the dropper for an extra 50p for accurate dosing. Start slowly with 1 drop, increasing to 2 drops, 2 to 3 times a day.

CBD Brothers do an almost identical product, that is slightly more expensive.

👉There is research to show that terpenoids are more important than the strain of CBD.

😖CBD has a strong taste, The Aqua, which also contains turmeric (anti-inflammatory among many other benefits, can be added to drinks. This is a big bonus and I add some to a small water bottle, when I go out.

😬During a flare I take CBD 3 times a day, instead of just morning & night.

🤔Interestingly, CBD helps build stronger bones.

👉More is not better with CBD. There is an amount which will work best for you and any extra CBD on top of this will be just wasted. It’s trial and error to find the best dose.

👉When I was using the paste, I put it on small square of chocolate, usually 2 large grains of rice, roughly equivalent to 2 drops of oil). I use it before getting out of bed in the morning, mid day & half an hour before bed.

👉Capsules contain more paste, but because you swallow it, you to wait up to 2 hours for it to start working. I’ve taken the capsules in the past, but find the paste quicker and more effective.

👉 Vaping CBD can give you a headache, if you take too much.

👉 If you take opioids make sure you take them at a different time of day to the CBD, as they both use the same pain receptor sites, so taking them at the same time is a waste.

👉Avoid taking them at the same time as other meds, it’s best to take CBD mid way between between doses.

❄️ The oil can get a bit solid in winter and has to be stood in warm water to turn back into an oil.

👉Make sure whatever you buy:

States that the THC level is 0.2% or less (legal level).

Is cold extraction using carbon dioxide.

Ideally organically grown, but at least pesticides free, as hemp takes up pesticides & heavy metals.

States the country where it was grown, look for Spain, The Netherlands or U.K.

States the levels and types of terpenoids.

Publishes lab results or supply on request. May be at the bottom of the page, in the FAQ (Simply CBD) or in the shop description (like CBD Brothers).

Is a member of The Cannabis Trades Association U.K. (like Simply CBD) or going through the process of obtaining a license from the MHRA (like CBD Brothers).

Never refers to their product as “medical marijuana”.

🤔There are companies that sell “white label” products. These are produced by one of the big suppliers, who then label them with the little companies own label.

😊When I buy CBD, I look for an ethical company, that isn’t just out to make quick money, by jumping on the band wagon. CBD Brothers support sick children and Simply CBD use profits to support their dog sanctuary.

🤔In states in the US where CBD or medical cannabis is legal they have seen a big drop in opioid use.

👉 This is a link to a Facebook CBD users page that offers advice and support.

facebook.com/groups/CBDuser...

👍Despite 2 physical injuries that are very painful, including a substantial lumbar vertebrae fracture, that won’t heal and other issues in addition to Fibro, most of the time I manage without any painkillers. I’ve manage on CBD alone as I had to come off Pregabalin and Amitriptyline due to sudden side effects after 3 years.

😐I find I still need other coping strategies, such as subliminal mp3 recordings with “brain entrainment” from Brain Hackers (99p each from Amazon), the “Pain Relief” and “Deep Sleep” and “Insomnia” help and I keep one playing in the background all night. They also do a Heal Relaxation one that I find very useful. I’m also using a TENS machine and mindfulness too.

😊I have no connection with Simply CBD or CBD Brothers, other than being a very satisfied customer.

I hope this helps and you find what works for you.

Rosey🙂

Wow, I am so glad I read your post. It is wonderful to have so much info, as the world of CBD oils is vast and often confusing. I have looked at Simply CBD and joined FB where you can ask questions, but seeing your answer has made me decide to try it. Can’t thank you enough. You also put it in a way that was easier to read and take in. I can never seem to do that on this posts on an iPad. You are a ⭐️.
