Has anyone had a fibro flare after a dwp medical? I reported this to them, as I thought it was significant. This hasn't happened to me like this for years! Any treatments/advice you can offer? Thanks so much xxx

A Fibro Flare!
Wow awful. Was your assessment pleasant? Are you nearby local pool that has A Jacuzzi?go for A soak,I unwind this way. Hope you feel better by weekend and your application is success full
Hi, and thanks for your reply. I use the jacuzzi at the local pool, I love it. Used to have physio, but they closed the hydrotherapy pool. Nearest one is somewhere in bedforshire (I live in herts) Might get some advice from the doctor, got to ring him tomorrow for a new certificate. Keep smiling, difficult at the moment, as I'm fighting to get my mum into good residential care. I pray each day that I'm successful! Take Care x
Unfortunately I would think it was the stress of having to attend the DWP medical as stress tightens all our already painful muscles. I was already in the middle of a flare when I had mine and having to get up extremely early and take my meds at a different time just added to the agony. Try and relax if you have a bath a soak in Epsom salts might help. Hope you get a good decision.x
Yes, the stress will have triggered the fibro. Any stress triggers mine into a flare. Keep warm, do some very gentle stretches if you can, soak in a hot bath, painkillers. You just have to do anything you can to combat each symptom.
Hi, and thanks for your suggestions. It's was the biggest flare up I've had for some time. It took me by suprise. I forgot how stress can increase our symptons! I'll be celebrating if they award me the extra payment, but I won't hold my breath! Take care, and have a nice weekend x
Having moved house and changed jobs early this year, I didn't take into account just how much stress can cause a flare up. I also had some other health issues, all turned out to be fine so Dr has diagnosed a prolonged fibro flare. I'm off work for the first time in 14 years and now worrying about long term. Not ready to go back to work next week.
Hi, I know how you feel. I was medically retire from the civil service (in 2009) I left at the end of September 2009. Six months later my retirement was turned down. My appeal took a year and I finally was granted my pension in May 2011!! If I can help in any way let me know. If you have a good gp, and a rheumatologist that would help you a lot in the long term. Best of luck, Liz xxx
Hi my flare up started as soon as I had the letter with the date of my appointment. It also started a flare up of my asthma. I was in increased pain for more than a week after my appointment, try and take it easy and rest. Take care
Hi, and thanks for your kind words. I don't think the dwp have no idea, as to how stressful these meeting or tribunals are. I vowed never to do another one. As the disability expert said to me " Well, you're hand and eye Co ordination must be ok, because you have done your nails and put your lipstick on!! It is very hard to fight that sort of attitude! Have a nice afternoon, hope you are ok x
