Pop assessment reports...shud I speak up or not speak up ?!?

Hello hope everyone's as well as can be... I'm curious about what I should do about the incorrect answers on my assessment reports it's happened twice now, last year and this year and beginning to wonder if it will happen again next year in fact I'm certain it will because my son who is with me said I had the same assessor as last year.... it's just 2 answers aren't being reported correctly 1 to do with my budget and finance decisions and 1 to do with who deals with my medication coz I'm on so many my functions aren't good plus in the past I've gotten into debt with spontaneous spending so I don't have any dealings with this anymore my son and daughter deal with both anyway both my reports have stated that I have no problems with either of these and I'm capable of both and this isn't true anyway I'm wondering next time should I speak up about them or just accept it.... I'm told to write to my mp to complain but if I have to go thru any kinda process to argue the fact I won't be able to has anyone ever had to deal with this kind of thing and advise on what I should do.... thank u in advance... peace to u all xx

Hi

I would ask for a MR

Write and say in your report and state the section you are disagreeing with

It States I deal with my medication

However than say what is actually happening

Same with finances

Do your family hold a Deputy ship for you ?

Do you have a set amount of money you have access to for shopping and personal use as if so this would be enough for them to say you are able to mange your finances

Hi thanks for your reply... I thought about going with the MR next time but I'm told I could lose altogether after this and I would have re apply all over again... just thought I could put a complaint in because the assessor didn't write what I'd said... no I don't deal with any money I tell them what I want or need if I want or need anything because finances get my anxiety levels thru the roof as does most things and the medication I forget what I've taken so often overdose or underdose This is what I told them... I don't know what you mean by a deputy ship ? Xx

Deputy Ship is when someone managing's your finances and it is granted by The Court of Protection .

Power of Attorney as well

If either of these where in place you would score points for being unable to manage your own finances ..

Yes you could lose the awared you have if you asked for a MR.

You have to make it clear what Sections you agree with .

Good luck

What ever you decide to do

I was wondering if I'd do any better on a POP assessment? It sounds quite jolly. I like music but trying to remember who did what, or naming that tune, through a murky Fibro Fog would likely defeat me. N if they did tricksy questions? Oh dear!

As for PIP? Ew, anything DWP and their associated assessment companies, is fraught with yuckness and stress. They hope we will give up and of course lots will do. Whether you take it further depends on your energy and what you hope to gain. Unless you are a dog with a bone and cant let it go, (I can sympathise with that) there is likely no point making yourself sick esp, if you have achieved enough to live on.

I hate how lies become the accepted truth once written down. It feels like we should challenge these, esp when not doing, can feel like lying too. I'm amazed how often any assessor of anything, even when nothing to do with DWP, get stuff wrong. They simply don't listen properly and understand what we say. Sometimes it really matters. With DWP, they seem to start from the viewpoint there will be nothing wrong and close their eyes to all evidence to the contrary. All very bad.

If you apply for MR - Do not just say which scores you disagree with and why. You also need to say which scores you do agree with and why they are correct. That then makes it much harder for them to reduce those scores, without producing a reasoned justification. In practice it is unusual for scores to be reduced unless there is insufficient evidence to support them.

We all get told the scores might reduce - they are just trying to scare us out of appealing. If you want to complain, you complain direct to Capita or Atos, not DWP as they don't write the reports. But an MR request must be sent to DWP.

Hi thank you for your replies and the information provided I really appreciate both your input and adviceJ, I didn't put in for an MR on both assessments I simply don't have it in me to argue or fight them sends my anxiety thru the roof then another fibro flare pins me down so I accepted it as it is as they accepted I'm ill were as 6 years ago when I first put in for dla they did not and that was a real ordeal for me to go thru as my mental health alone was spiked thru this fight to tribunal and I still lost so I didn't want to go thru this again It's just so many are telling me I should do this that or the other because of the incorrect information that they have done on my report on two assessments but no I'm not going thru that again I'm accepting it as it is they have awarded me another 2 years again but have to another assessment next year before the 2 years are up saying my condition can change not that any things changed in 10years so I don't know why they think Can now🤷‍♀️ But yeah il stick with this as it is at least they've finally accepted I'm ill xx

I had blatant lies told in my assessment report. To challenge them directly isnt wise but if you did not receive the amount you feel you are entitled to then definitely appeal. You can say the assessor was 'mistaken' or 'perhaps didnt hear you correctly'.
