Update on pleurisy (neck injury)

Hi all

I posted on here the other day that I have pleurisy, but after seeing another doctor as well as calling an ambalance out in the early hours of thurs morn I have now been told it’s a neck injury, I’m in agony when I move, cannot lay on that side. Don’t remember hurting it, but had a niggling pain for a while.

I’m just really hoping it’s not more degeneration of discs or cartilage as I will have to learn to live with this pain on top of all my other back pain etc.

It could also be a flare up from fibro, as I lost my 5 year old dog in a tragic accident on sat, which has really floored me, she was basically trampled on by another dog which caused a broken leg and massive spinal injury leaving her paralysed, it’s truly broken my heart, which could be why I’m suffering so badly.

The pain is in my right shoulder blade along my right arm, up to the back of my head and hurts to breath, cough, move etc, anyone else had this?

I’m even considering seeing a chiropractor as I just can’t cope with this pain, any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated, am using heat and cold and getting my mum and daughter to massage tights muscles.

Sorry for long post

Thanx in advance for any thoughts

Alison x

You poor thing. My condolences for the tragic loss of your dog 🐕. If you have a neck injury aren’t you in the hospital??? I’m sooo very sorry that all of this has happened to you.

I hope and pray that you get treated and relief soon.

Sending you hugs 🤗 love 💗 and xxx.

So sorry about that dog such an awful thing to happen. I can imagine your sorrow is making your muscles extremely tense which won't be helping your pain. As you say you might be having a big flare I find the pain always seems to be worse one side than the other. Good luck with you do decide to try a chiropractor. Let us know how you are.x

Hello, I have a lot of pain in my right shoulder. It was first diagnosed as a fibro flare but the pain just kept getting worse. A locum sent me for an x ray where it showed impingement but the consultant didn't want to operate because he felt that there was only a 50/50 chance of success. He did tell me I should ask for another referral if it changes. The pain was still worsening so I was sent for an mri scan on my neck. The person who viewed it said there was degeneration in my neck but not enough to be causing the amount of pain I was in. The dr at the pain clinic pushed several points on my neck/shoulder and three of those really hurt when he did it. I had guided steroid injections in the three places and they eased it for a while. I was due to have further treatment after denervation treatment on my knee but the dr retired and it doesn't appear that I will be getting any treatment. I asked if I could change service providers and I'm due to go to a different hospital in August. I know this won't be much help but you can ask to be seen at any hospital that has a service that you require so I would think about changing if you are in so much pain. Good luck and hope you get some relief soon

Thank u for ur replies it really does help to speak to others that have similar or just other things they are dealing with, my little doggy dying has really floored me as it was at home where she was trampled on by another family dog which caused a massive spinal cord injury, that’s really killed me as she should have been safe at home. The doctor didn’t seem too worried just said it would hopefully be much better in a wk, it has improved slightly but is still so so painful, I can’t move at certain points and is just hurting so much.

What worries me is it is degeneration as I have had a shoulder op 2009 for this is my other shoulder, 2 discs in my lower back were basically worn away which meant surgery and now I need a knee replacement due to it being bone on bone, I just don’t think I can bare to live with this new pain on top of everything else, I can’t do anything, I have been doing exercises doc gave me but it isn’t helping much.

I will keep u all posted and continue to see what others have done or suggest, if no better by Monday will go back to docs to request an X-ray, I cannot have an mri because I have a spinal cord stimulator implant in my spinal column for chronic lower back pain, and not everything shows on X-rays, my first X-ray on knee last year didn’t show the amount of degeration, it was only when surgeon went in to fix a meniscus tear that he saw it was worn out, but because I’m only early 40’s he suggested trying to lose weight etc before trying for replacement, however I basically can’t walk because of knee and now my neck is stopping me to move my upper body too. What a mess I am, it does make me feel I can’t actually go on much longer, have been in this horrendous cycle of pain and surgery since 2000 on and off, it got to the point I couldn’t work etc in 2000, I just feel so useless, and a burden to my family, my husband actually left in 2011 because I’m not the women he married, I have put on so much weight so don’t look like the old me, and obviously physically the things we enjoyed tog, cycling, swimming, walking etc etc are not things I can do anymore, I just wonder what’s the point in this constant battle, sorry to be so depressing but I really am feeling so low.

Sorry everyone for this long depressing post but I can imagine there’s lots who must feel like this .
