Pip report

So received my report and only think a few tweaks too the truth is not far off the truth. So my question is has anyone been awarded more than they were expecting from what the report shows. Standard care looks a strong yes(not counting chickens etc) but with a better wording on the truth should see enhanced care. Mobility only awarded 2 point for this.

I was a migrator from DLA to PIP. On DLA I had the lower rate and to MN be honest looking at the descriptors for PIP I wondered whether I would miss out by a point. In some parts I scored exactly as I thought I might, in others she gave me a score where I wasn't expecting any and in several places I was expecting a reasonably high score and either got mine or a low score. In the next I got standard care with 9 points instead of the 7 or 8 I was expecting and had 4 for mobility. I think my case was helped by my appointment being very early and I am at my worse first thing and I was undergoing a bad flare and was honestly on another planet and supposedly nearly fainted with the pain. I must admit there was a part of the assessment I barely recall.

I admit I am one of those people who make light of everything and might have done that unknowingly on my form and do wonder if I had attended in one of my better days whether I would have got the award.a I do tend to battle on regardless because of necessity rather than choice. My two close friends reckon most people would take to their beds on many of the sort of days I have but I just try and carry on as it is not in my nature to give in. I do hope you have a good result and get what you hope for.x

Thanks they did say I was no longer on anxiety medication(sertraline) which is true but I am however on 30-40ml of amitriptyline which I take for pain/anxiety as doctor did say yes too stoping sertraline as well as amitriptyline so yes I’m still on anxiety medication. Also I stated I don’t go into crowded places much alone due too anxiety re incontinence/pain Incase there’s too many people about and can’t get there in time/or loo’s in use or none available this is anxiety for me. I went too too the assessment alone(yes) no crowds and available toilets.

Unfortunately, the DM tends to go with the Assessor's report in the vast majority of cases.

You never know though... Good luck if you decide to go to MR and appeal.

If you need any help at all with forms or appeals contact Fightback4justice. I used them on my initial forms and got enhanced for both mobility and care with no problems at all. I had a home visit from PIP and the lady was really understanding and considerate.

Me too Fightback4Justice have a fantastic success rate I used them too and my initial forms and assessment was all that was needed. No Mandatory Reconsideration or Appeal. I too had a home visit and a really understanding lady along with a Fightback4 Justice representative who came along. I did have her expenses to pay but that is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

I live too far for someone to come to me but my husband was there anyway as he is my full time carer. I'm hoping that the forms they are doing for me now go as well. It's my first update as my 1st 5 years I was given is up next year.

Hello, I suffer from agoraphobia and recently had to renew my forms. I called them to say that I don't go out or very little when I do and that I get very anxious. I asked if it would be possible for them to come to my home and do my assessment, which they did. It was much easier this way and the overall appointment went very well. They filled in the forms for me and were there to see things for themselves. I think they scored me 20 points out of 22. It was a few months ago now. They changed my rate from middle to high rate too. I wasn't expecting them to up my care needs, so it was well worth seeking help. I am not sure others realise you can ask them to come to you if you need it. A lot less stressful than trying to answer questions you don't know how to reply to.

They nearly always go with the Assessor's report and sort out problems at Mandatory Reconsideration or Appeal stages. There are big backlogs so they don't have time to treat us all as individuals. Appalling but true.

You should definitely go for a Mandatory Reconsideration on the basis that you cannot walk 50m to 200m, reliably (safely, repeatedly and in a reasonable timescale). Also mix in the mental health issues into your justification - forcing them to look at that too.
