It came up in a random blood test although i had just before started having symptoms skin problems on my hands, arms and my hair falling out. I am now on medication for my thyroid and it seems to be under control and it is tested every 6 months.

Hi LynnFA and Brujah81

don't know if its tsh test ,every time i have blood test about every 6 months my blood test come back normal ,.

The reason i think i may have it is my temp is usually between 35/36 ,i feel cold all the time ,ive put on lots of weight ,i'm tired all the time .

i know these sypmtoms can mean other things ,but when i tell drs about things i get told it part of having fibro :( ,next time go drs i will be asking if it was tsh and if not can i have one to rule it out as at min i feel not right in my self and dont think its all just fibro ,i so hate this illness as im stuck in bed most times and cant even walk my soon to school .

I first noticed that I had gained weuight for no apparent reason and alwyas felt tired and hair coming out everytime i combed or brushed so my G.P recomended a .T.F.T and it showed an underactive Thyroid I have been on medication (Thyroxine for almost 11 yrs and go for regular check ups and a recent one showed I needed to up my dose of Thyroxine. So a T.F.T Blood Test should show if you need to be on medication.Hope this helped :)

The reason your test has come back as in the normal range is probably due to the Laboratory that processed your test. These tests are always measured against a normal range for that particular lab, and this could lead to the test done on someone who has a borderline low thyroid function coming back within the normal range. The best way to deal with this is to take your "basal" temp each morning before you get up for at least a week and note this temp down. If you have an underactive thyroid it should show a temp 1 degree below normal. I've had underactive thyroid for over 20 years.

I had many blood tests over the years for thyroid problems and they all came back negative.I was diagnosed wih FMS,had another blood test and it came back that I have an under active thyroid,so I personally think they do go together.I even get toothache ear ache, jaw pains, sore throats, basically you name and its FMS.I wish you well, and welcome to the world of FMS!!

Hi Tinamarie, i have so many symptoms most of which could go with many other illnesses so its difficult to get diagnosed with anything ,it took over 10 years to be told i had fibro and osteaoarthritis was dx 2008 .
