Hi,
I also have a lot of trouble sleeping due to pain and restlessness, my doctor has put me on a very low dosage of Dosulepin (25mg) a night, just to take the edge off and if I'm honest I still don't have a fantastic nights sleep but they help me get back to sleep quicker than if I wasn't taking them.
I'm not suggesting this is the way forward for you, but works for me at the moment, you could also try relaxation tecniques before trying to sleep, the one I find helps best is where you close your eyes and imagine you are tensing the muscles in your body, hold for 10 secs then release the tensions and pain away, start at the feet and work your way up your legs, body and arms, to shoulder and neck/ face. Feels weird at first but sometimes it does help - oh and try to clear your mind of anything, all those little worries that you have, pretend they are not there and you have an open space.
Hope that helps and you sleep better soon,
Ema
I can agree with EmaB , since I've been taking 50mg of Dosulepin at night I actually get some sleep, after almost 2 years of not sleeping.
I also use a meditation technique from yoga by concentrating on my breathing in 1 nostril out the other and alternate on counts of 4 to 8.......you eventually lose count and fall asleep ! Anything is worth a try, I think we can all agree on that !
I know how you feel I have not slept tidy for nearly 3 years no matter what I try, I really dont know how to help accept that I have a memory foam wedge pillow that does help a little bit but not much. The only good thing about not sleeping is getting my college work done. Try talking to your doctor to see if they can help.
thanks guys i will give them techniques ago and also speak to my doctor :O)
