Hi everyone hope you are all as well as you can be today. Has anyone ever been prescribed vitamin D pills for fibromialgya I was speaking to a lady who also has fibro and she said her GP insists she takes VitaminD because of lack of sunshine and daylight because she is very rarely out of the house, I've not heard of anyone else being prescribed this.

😕

i've been prescribed Vitamin D in the past, and then my GP recommended that I continue to take an OTC one - especially over the winter months. however, that was because my vit d levels showed up as low in tests, not necessarily because of my fibromyalgia. Anyone who is not out of the house much is at risk from low vit D - not just people with fibro. xxx

Most people in uk 🇬🇧 have Vitamin D definition special darker skin people so it is recommended that everyone takes Vit D and you will see on her that most of us have been told or given Vit D. 👍☀️☀️

Hi Pinot. When I first went to the gp with complains, it was found amongst other things that I was very low on vit d levels. Low vit d levels may cause general aches and pains amongst other things. I was prescribed a high dose for a month and after that I was advised to take 800iu. I still take vit d supplements many years later. I was prescribed because I was low in vit d, not because I had fibromyalgia.

Hi Pinot,

My doctor said the same as my levels were low, a lot of us with fibro tend to get low on vit d and it’s so important to get enough, hope this helps, NanaT 😊

Yes me too. I was really low and was given a high dose to start with, now I am on a 100iou a day. I must have another test to see if that's enough. My son was also given it when he badly broke his collarbone.

Hi pinot, yes I was prescribed Vit D about 4 to 5 years after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia and CFS. I found that over a couple of months some of my teeth just broke off at the gum line, no pain or anything the roots had just died, so I asked my Dr what was the reason (I lost about 7 teeth in total). She sent me for blood tests and when they came back she put me a months dose of Vit D per day for several weeks as my Vit D level was so very very low. From taking the high dose of Vit D none of my other teeth have died or broke off. I now take 800iu Vit D per day and have been taking it for over 4 years now. I looked on the web site at the time my teeth were snapping off and there seemed to be a few people who had problems with teeth just snapping off about 4 years after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia. They were also taking tramadol which is what I am on. So I don't know if it was low Vit D, tramadol or a combination of both that caused these teeth to die. I also was not leaving the house very much as my sleep pattern was upside down where I was awake most of the night and getting most of my sleep during the day, so was not getting enough sun light. All in all I believe my Fibro and/or my CFS brought about these problems with low Vit D. I hope this has helped you in some way and would urge you to get your Vit D levels checked by your Dr. Good luck with everything.
