Hi everyone. I saw my Rheumy today and she prescribed Cymbalta for my fibromyalgia. Anyone else take this? If so how has it worked for you.

Cymbalta/Duloxitine has been brilliant for me though I am, like you, simply a patient and it is my experience. Others have had differing reactions.

I am sure that you will hear some of them :-)

I've taken cymbalta for almost a year. I've found it relieves some of the nerve pain. Although it makes me sleepy when I take it in the morning.  If I take it at night it keeps me awake. I hope you find it helpful.

So do you find it best to take it afternoon?

Yes I tried taking it but unfortunately the side effects were so bad in my case that I had to stop taking it.  I know others have found it an absolute blessing.  This just confirms to me that with fibro there is no one drug that suits us all it is a case of trial and error.  I do hope that it helps to relieve your pain and give you a bit of a lift.  Do let us know how you get on.x

As I read the side effects as always they sound terrifying lol my doctor told me nauseous was the top one that it would go away after a couple days :/ so I'm going to start it tomorrow ::fingers crossed::

If you are lucky many of the side effects with tablets peak after a few days or even a couple of weeks according to what you are taking and then slowly get better.  I am on Pregablin and to be honest if I had not been in such terrible pain at the time I would not have persevered.  I decided to stick out the feeling that I was on planet Zog and the total inability to do anything.  Slowly I started to feel more normal (well as normal as I ever get).  Even though I am in pain all the time to a greater or lesser degree it has taken the terrible edge off it for which I am so grateful. I do hope the Cymbalta works for you.x

Hi

I have been taking this for over two years now and am absolutely fine on it although I have to take it in the morning as it kept me awake at night. No drowsiness at all.

All I can say is give it a go - it ispretty much trial and error with all the drugs offered to us as what suits one will not suit another.

All the best to you.

Kind regards

Jane

my psychiatrist gave me this forclinical depression and because she thought it would help with fibro  it has been brilliant with depression wouldnt be able to tell you if it helps with fibro as i take so many pain meds

hope this helps

Hi

I've been put on it too, Duloxetine that is. I was dizzy and feeling sick for first 3 weeks.

Then it just stopped and I think it helped my mood a bit. Saw my dr on Monday and she's upped it to 60mgs now. I take it at night (so hopefully any side effects come then, hopefully if I sleep), make sure you have a little bit of food with it, or it will upset your tummy.

These drugs have to get into your system before you feel any benefit, which is a few weeks.

I hope that you can stick with them and that they help you.

Take care and best wishes.

Hi Whelp529

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today?

It is not a medication that I have taken but I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck with this. Please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

I was given it and had massive side effects with it. When I was on it I don't  have any memory of what I did or said but I was told it wasn't  good. But I have so much problems with meds that there is not much I can take. Way To many sever allergic reactions to meds. Best of luck and hope it helps you

Cymbalta made we sweat so terribly that I had to discontinue it. I'm on three other meds for depression that help very much (Welbutrin, Pristiq and Seroquel). But this one just didn't work for me. I take Lyrica for fibromyalgia and prednisone and methotrexate for polymyalgia rheumatica. I hope it works for you. Everyone is different!
