What is your response to a colleague when they say "you don't look like anything is wrong. "

You could show them a picture of fibromyalgia and then maybe they would realise it’s a unseen illness. I don’t have time for people like that because who would want to say they are ill when they are not. If people experienced what we have for one week then they would know what illness really feels like. Take good care of yourself sweetie. Love and hugs 🤗🤗🌹🌿🌹🌿😘😘

I would thank them, it means you are doing what most of us do and putting on a front, no one can see pain and it cannot be explained effectively, in fact if I looked as awful as I feel I would never leave the house. All best wishes xxx

Someone had a pop at me over the weekend. I've only ever told 6 close friends I have fibro but happened to mention yesterday what a good day it was as Saturday had been a day in bed with a good selection of pain killers. The comment I got was " ignore H, she's attention seeking" --- exactly what I'm not!

I can't describe how much it's upset me. Struggling through every so****** day with a face smile plastered to your face obviously isn't good enough for some people.

Sorry you get the same cr** remarks.

flippant response would be you don't look stupid / ignorant either.....

Many conditions like diabetes, cancer, hepatitis, depression, arthritis don't show their effects outwardly but you would not dismiss them or the person. My condition affects me in many ways with good, bad and worse days where you won't see me out as I am in my bed recovering.

The public need to be more educated about all the silent illnesses that there are and many folk suffer more than one also. My problem is folk saying "you are always ill " yes it's a permanent illness ! But they still don't get it and say when they see you "you look better" are you over it now !!!!!!

There’s a photo on my posts which shows what happens underneath , that no one sees , show your colleagues this photo and say things are not always what they seem, some people look deeper and have actual knowledge xx it’s what I did and it shut them all up xx

Hope it helps x

I do like pictures like that but they are artists visualisations rather than biological. But they do help get the message across.

Yes I just used it so they had some kind of idea what we deal with everyday. It did the trick and they are more understanding now, it was more to the stirring ones at work.

You can't judge a book by it's cover - or - looks are deceiving. They can't help being ignorant, bless !!!!!

Sometimes people can mean this kindly as they want to show that you dont look awful and haggard. Sometimes people just open their mouths and rubbish comes out with no ill intent. I am sure we have all said similar things at one point in our lives.

Don't let it bother you.

"Thank goodness, I'd hate to look as c**p as I feel" ought to cover it.
