Glad to be home

Hi all. Hope all well.

I came out of hospital yesterday was in for 3 weeks. My legs stopped working altogether. Thankfully they’re working again now but I had MRI and CT scan and came back clear. They were looking for MS as I was having the symptoms. Plus it runs in the family. I was bed bound for nearly 2 weeks! Not being able to do anything for my self was scary! You don’t realise how much you take for granted until you’ve lost it. I’m home now back with my kitten and I’m hoping to stay that way because although I was in rehab it was all mainly elderly with domenter (not sure if I’ve spelt it right) but I found it really scary! So so glad to be back home with my baby kitten.

This sounds like exactly what I am going through right now except the nerves in my feet are working over time. 4th week now. How did you get over this? Did it gradually just resolve itself?

shows how the NHS is creaking and groaning at the seams. If there's nowhere else to put them - and you - it demonstrates the lack of half way houses we used to have. Glad you're home and hope things start to settle soon.

Trouble with dementia sufferers, the normal things like helpful families aren't up to helping the way that's needed.

If you watch the hospital programme on bbc 1 catch up it’s a different hospital but I went through exactly like that!

It’s a great feeling to be home after being in hospital. They are good doing what they do, but Oh, to sleep in your own bed is bliss. Glad u are on the mend. Must say, your cat has beautiful markings, makes a good companion & unconditional 💕 x

Hi Em08,

Awful experience! I know! It happened to me. And yes, very scary.

So glad you got back home safe and sound.

I'm intrigued. Did your legs stop working? I suffered dead, heavy legs feeling. Got that a few times, odd, random days. Then, one morning, the heavy dead legs was so bad, I just couldn't walk. My spine felt inflamed, my neck etc..

So, I had MRI showing stenosis C5/6 and bulging discs lower back. I do have history of prolapse discs and sciatica twice.

I am diagnosed autoimmune hypothyroidism, sjogrens syndrome ?lupus, and a locum Dr added fibromyalgia to the list.

Would fibromyalgia cause these sort of symptoms to legs? Yours and/or mine?

Wishing you well.

Hi. It’s not completely the same. I just couldn’t move them but I had feelings. I could feel pulsing in my feet and pins and needles. I was in so much pain it was unbearable. You need to see the neurologist. Thanks you too.

Thank you for reply.

I did have neurological test and all appeared fine. However, sjogrens specialist said small fibre neuropathy from sjogrens doesn't show on the test!

Personally, I don't think leg problem neurological, rather due to sudden swelling of limbs.

Currently, I'm being monitored by orthopaedic consultant as I developed lumps on back of legs.

I believe poor thyroid function can result in heavy legs and lumps. Who knows?

So long as we can keep out of hospital and walk! Appreciating every good day!
