You never said have you been diagnosed with Fibro for very long? You may find our sister forum helpful it has loads of information.

Have you spoke to the council to see if your eligible for any help with the cost of having a wet room fitted. If paying for it yourself. You would be better getting advice from firms who install them as to which may be better for you and the size of your bathroom. I wish you good luck and hope you can get one fitted soon to help with your needs xx

take a look online at B&Q and Betterbathrooms, have you got a local websight like here- its nextdoor.com you could find a workman who could fit one, maybe even have access to buy them cheaper than we can.

The council offered to do mine, taking out the bath and putting in a wetroom. For this they were going to put a charge on the bungalow so when it was sold the money had to be paid back first.

We declined and chose our own design, paid for with a loan. Personally I do not like wetrooms because it is what it says. My bathroom is small so the loo and wash basin and floor would need to be wiped and dried before use, even using a curtain. Also it is our only bathroom and a drain in the middle of the floor is not particularly appealing.

We chose a quadrant shower with a large sliding door. Most cubicles come with two doors which meet in the middle, I wanted one door so that my husband could help me getting in and out without it being a squash. The base is only an inch high, some are higher to get the waste pipes in, our builders cut through the concrete floor for mine.

If you do go ahead yourself, without council involvement, don't forget if you are replacing the loo, basin, tiles and flooring at the same time, then you do not pay VAT, which helps a lot. We had builders in who were very good and we saved the VAT on their labour too.

The builders the council recommended came up with quotes that were at least two thousand pounds more expensive than we paid, and did not mention VAT relief, so we are glad we did not have their "help"!

However if you are in a rented property, council or Housing association you may be able to have this done free of charge, depending on your needs.

Hope this helps.

I had a wet room put in to my smallish bathroom. They done it out beautifully. I chose a lovely white glittery flooring. When we finished in the shower i had a rubber window blade to get rid of excess water. It cleaned the floor lovely as well. They do provide a shower curtain so nothing gets wet. If you have a small bathroom, you have to put the vent on as it gets so very foggy. The bad side is that you get cold quick and if your aching from a hard day, you can't have a soak in the bath. I turned it down when we moved into this place.
