Hi I was wondering if anyone else has got a dog like mine, he always knows when my knee is about to collapse. For years I have had knee pain but over a year ago it started to collapse without warning, this means I fall which makes everything hurt worse for days. I do take max a field spaniel for a walk each day, he runs ahead of me often following scents but when my knee is about to go max comes back to me and stands barking until I stop and sit down or lean on fence. So I wondered if max is the only dog like this or does lots of dogs do this?
This him after having a hair cut.

Hi Killyraw, It sounds like you have a very clever and loyal companion in Max. I have two lovely 😺😺 who watch my every move and they do seem to get anxious if they see me struggling especially the female cat. Animals play a big part in helping us to get through the tough days living with the Fibro beast.😊
It's not only dogs, Killyraw; my cat, also Max, miaows at me when I should stop and sit down. When staying vertical is no longer a possibility he comes with me to bed and does not move until I get up again, patiently rearranging himself when I change position to ease the pain.
I think most animals have this sensitivity, they are just the best companions and so very much part of the family. Can't manage a dog now as I can't walk but I wouldn't be without a cat to whisper sweet nothings in my ear. xx
Aww that is beautiful .... some dogs are health dogs that live and work with people they know have an illness and they warn their parent before the even happens.... assistance dogs I think they are called .....
My dog just wants food , cuddled plenty and taken for walks .. you are very lucky xx
I have an Assistance dog, we've been a partnership now for nine months so it's still early days. Vixen is a beautiful black lab., loves to work and learn new tasks but that is her resume, she's not a health detection girl though I have found in the past that long term pets get to know the signs of something wrong with their person
I'm so sorry you lost ruby, it's so hard, George had arthritis & he slowed down as I did so we made a great pair! Unfortunately it got to the point he was starting to struggle getting up & down (16.3 shire x) so had to say goodbye.
Gorgeous dog. They are very emphathic my last dog always knew when I wasn't well and would be very attentive and gentle which was the direct opposite of her normal very effervescent character. He sounds as though he would have made an excellent assistance dog.x
