Body jumping and twitching

Hi. I have restless legs and its really severe. When i do manage to stop for couple of minuites my whole body starts jumping and twitching and the pain is horrendous. I suffer with agraphobia so this doesnt help my anxiety. My gp has just told me to stretch more how this will help i dont know. Anyone any idea what i need to do next. Was thinking of talking to a different gp. Thankyou for your time.

You may find it useful to speak to your gp about medication for restless legs if it is so severe.

Yeah thats how i feel. Im just waiting for a gp home visit ive had enough of them messing me about over phone need to speak to them face to face. Im agraphobic so dont go out but this is one of the reasons why i dont go out i feel stupid when im throwing food or a brew all over myself. Or dropping things for no reason. X

If it doesn't help ... there are other similar ones that your gp could try.

Im going to ring gp tommorrow. I just hope its the gp i normally see because it was a different gp that told me to stretch more. Its the pain of the jumping and twitching that hurts so much which makes me move my legs more just to stop the jumping its driving me mad. Thankyou for your help.xx

Hi, Have you cut out caffeine in the evening? I found it helpful. Also ask your GP to check vitamin levels. 😊

I have cut caffeine out too (I have 1 cup of caffeinated tea in the morning after this I have decafe) & found it really helps. I also found Epsom salts in my bath followed by Tramadol & guided meditation also helped a lot. Xxx

My mum in law suffered with this but found iron helped a lot. She took it in liquid form with pure orange juice. It's worth a try

Thankyou all for your help. Spoke to gp this morning and shes prescribed a muscle relaxant and said to try for a couple of weeks see if this helps. So fingers crossed.x

Good luck, hope that helps. I take a muscle relaxant every day and that doesn't help my restless legs. As mentioned above, I take an over the counter pill. You need to let your doctor know of any meds you take over the counter as well as prescribed in case would have an affect.

So pleased to hear you've got a different medication from your doc.

I on Pregabalin for my fibromyalgia and have found that since I've been on it my RLS has been a lot less.

Please let us know how you get on with the muscle relaxant. Gentle hugs. ((💕))

I think thats what happened. I never want to go through that again i thought i was dying. I wish i had read this before i took the pills. Yeah they stopped my legs moving but hightened the jumping 100% more. Im ringing gp yet again today and hopefully can get something different that doesnt make me feel like s**t.x

Magnesium really helps. The link below has loads of info on which type to get. Good luck and I hope you're feeling better soon.

I get them also. If my feet touch each other, it will start the restless legs going. I use an over the counter pill and it helps a lot.

It is common in Fibro. Restless leg syndrome. I have restless back and arms too. My G.P gave me Pramipaxole for it and it really helps. See another G.P and tell them how common it is in Fibro and see if you can get the drug if you wish.

I suffered with this for years , restless leg and arm syndrome and ur gp is right if i do some light exercise and stretching in the day and before i go to bed it does help.

Sometimes it coz ur not using ur muscle enough and it will twitch and restrict.. if u dont use these enough they will waste away and ur have muscle wastage.

So mayb some light stretching may help u.

I started walking to build mine, it also help me sleep. I started just round block now i do about 5-6 mile a day.

I also take glucosamine, msm and coq10 for muscle and cartliage building and inflammation in joints
