Hello, im kaytlou, 47 and as yet undiagnosed with fibro. Ive been to the docs 4 times in around 10 wks. Feel like im wasting their time and all i do is moan! Told the doc my symptoms, he wanted me to have my thyroid levels re-checked. (Im hypothyroid). Had them and vit d etc done. All came bk ok. Got to stay on my 75mcgs of thyroxine. Pain and stiffness in lower back, shoulder, neck constant. Occasional pain in left wrist. I have ibs, always tired but sleep badly most nights. Always cold. Etc... 2nd doc i saw said there was a possibility of fibro wen i showed her the print out of symptoms id brought with me..i had every 1 virtually. See how i felt in 4-6 weeks and come bk again. Most prob arthritis. WHAT!??? Next doc dismissed fibro and sent me to physio. In my opinion i feel worse wen ive been there!! I have headaches most days and stiffness in my back, hips and neck and shoulders is not getting any better after at least 7-8 months. Back probs over 10 yrs. Im taking ibruprofen like smarties. What do u lively people think? Could it be fibro? Sorry 4 the long post. Xxx
Help please?: Hello, im kaytlou, 47 and... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Help please?
Hi Kaytlou..sorry to hear you're struggling. I was diagnosed 25+ years ago...it took almost 1 1/2 years and was by a rheumatologist..I suggest you take advantage of physio this should help you in the long run and try to get an appointment with a rheumatologist. I wish you the best of luck!
Hi Kay
I'm so sorry to hear you are in such pain and not being heard by your gp.
I had to say to mine how many times do I have to come here before you actually do anything... that got his arse into gear! But he sent me everywhere and didn't tell me he thought it was fibro! Go to see the arthritis department as they diagnosed fibro for me in the end.
Have a look at the main fibro site and go back armed with info to your dr.
Healing thoughts to you Kay xx
Then what happens?...
Well I was pleased I knew and then felt sad that it was a condition that I had and will get flare ups and good days.. you have to change your life and get sneered at by others that don't believe...
But you have us!!
There is lots to learn x
Its a scary thought i suppose..but tbh, i would rather i WAS actually diagnosed with it, then at least i no whats wrong with me. I just feel the docs are def missing something. Its not just "wear and tear" on my joints(??!! Im 47, not 97). Thankyou everyone. You are fabulous folks! Please keep smiling and keep warm and well. Xxx
I know what you mean I am not much older but feel twice my age and some days even older ...
Take care and be kind to yourself x
Hi there, sorry to hear you going through it. I was same, 46 years old, and back and forth to docs for last four years. I did same as you and showed him a list of all my symptoms, some of which were like lupus, so he eventually sent me to Rheumatlogy. I too needed to know after years of thinking, I am only 46 and feel like 96! Why do I feel so tired, why do I ache? Why do my joints hurt? I had depression after being made redundant and caring for mum with cancer, so dc said that’s what was wrong with me. Also starting my menopause too. But once at rheum you they will rule everything else out, i had all the bloods etc and got diagnosed this year. Mixed blessing.. good to be able to know why, but also sad as now know that I have something that’s permanent, and I am now going through the process of coming to term with it.
Do you get tender areas around your body?
I am still not 100% sure it’s fibromyalgia and looking into Candida. As I get a lot of thrush in mouth and other bits ! Can have similar symptoms to fibro too.
Anyway Rheummy is def the way forward for diagnosing fibro so push your Go and don’t let him fob you off. Good luck with it all. Xx
Hi Fibroclaire..tender points...i had a massage about 2/3 yrs ago and nearly screamed myself off the table. It was just dreadful!! Had to ask her to avoid places, use super light touch etc. Couldnt wait for it to be over. Such a shame as my friend had bought it me as a present. Had lots of massages 10-12 yrs ago- no probs at all. Loved them so wasnt expecting to feel like i did.
Hello Kaytlou, I'm so sorry and all my empathy goes out to you. It does sound like Fibro to me and I agree with Greykitty. I would urge you to insist your gp refer you to a Rheumatologist, then take it from there.
I was suffering for over 11 years, only diagnosed just over a month ago. I was climbing the walls..So to speak and similar to yourself, lived on brufen, which didnt really cut it. Now on Amitryptaline at night..so sleeping much better, which in turns helps with pain.
Yes.. There will be good and bad days, but, first and foremost, you need to get your muscles in some sort of order (relax)
I wish you all the very best and sending out warmth and positivity to you xx
Wow! Thanku all so much for all your marvellous advice. i will certainly be going bk to the docs..AGAIN...! and saying everything ive been told by you lovely lot! Thanku!! 😘😘😘
