Thanks everyone for messaging me about concerns that I had, I am signing out as I no longer have many problems.. the doctors couldt believe it but it's mad how there is people out there that can help, I went vegan, then stumbled apon the healing community not the treating my symptoms with nasty drugs one (doctors) I did soo much research as I wanted to get better, the only advice I can give everyone is to go vegan to start, or dive straight into the 80/10/10 diet, people like dr morse, dr Sebi and dr mcdougal can help with the detoxing, I'm not going to argue with the community I just hope people can open their eyes to what really can happen when you throw away the garbage diet 100% of people on this websit eat. Wish you all the best with your healing... and good luck.
I'm signing out of this website for g... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
I'm signing out of this website for good.
I started to research, came across a guy in the usa, read his book, all made sense, gp told me I was talking rubbish, every day goes by I feel better, this is just me and in no way am I saying any more
You do make me laugh 😘
thanks for sharing the links and details with your fellow sufferers
Good luck
There is quite a lot of info out there that switching to a plant based diet has helped a lot of people overcome a lot of illnesses. Cutting out processed food which have lots of additives etc. Unfortunately some of it is quite expensive but if you can’t do it permanently it’s wirth trying for occasional detox and gradually trying to change diet after all what’s to lose.
If only it was that easy....perhaps you had a food allergy of some kind all along? Good for finding something that has helped you - but to generalise and suggest everyone on here has fibromyalgia because of their garbage diet is both presumptuous and disrespectful. I hate to break it to you - but vegans are not immune from illness, including fibromyalgia. As for Doctors, while not perfect they often just are doing their best to help with a difficult disease that, as of now - has no cure. I don't know how I'd get through the day without my painkillers/'nasty drugs'. I've tried exclusion diets, fad diets, made zero difference...
Agree andycheatle!
Good luck Ant 92...
But ...I'm afraid I find your approach patronising and disrespectful of the many people here who offer support and advice (often along with humour) to those of us struggling on a daily basis with what is a hugely debilitating condition.
Further, I take strong exception to your comment, "the garbage diet 100% of people on this websit eat". If your version of a "cure" were so straightforward it would now be followed by the many people who research this condition on a daily, often hourly, basis! It would be headline news!
Other than an emotional response to your new lifestyle choice can you offer any scientific proof that our "garbage diet" is the root cause of our downfall! I agree that diet has a major part to play but to assume that 100% of us eat "garbage" is unhelpful...and wholly incorrect.
If you are stilI checking this forum then I guess there are thousands of brave, ill people out there who would like to know why years of research has missed your point!
This is a support site and that is it's true value....I do hope you find as much support in your new community as we, here, find from each other.
Wishing you continued good health.
Best...
DD
Ant92, how do you know what I eat? Anyway, you seem on a high, so enjoy it.
I agree that a healthier diet will improve most people's well being regardless of their condition (I have been a vegetarian myself for many years). However despite your confident claim that 100% of us on the forum eat garbage, I would bet that many have tried numerous detox programmes and various diets as believe it or not, it's not a new concept. There are plenty of "doctors" particularly in the US who make a very good living by advocating certain diets and lifestyles. Don't get me wrong, I am not dissing them all, there are some valid arguments but there are also some where many of the health benefits are exaggerated and lack strong scientific evidence. I see from your posts that you have never actually been formally diagnosed with fibromayalgia unlike most of us who have and suffered with it for many years. But good for you sweetie for finding a lifestyle that suits you and has made you feel better. Good luck and take care. x
I follow the Paddison Program which is a modified whole-food plant based diet with no-oils with a huge emphasis on exercise and have had great success. I became pain free in February 2017 and took my last drug in July, with the full support of my doctor. On the medication treatment section of my health report, my doctor has officially written "vegan diet and exercise" as the treatment.
I don't say I am "cured". I don't say I am in "remission". I think both those terms are for doctors. I know I can increase pain by eating the wrong foods at anytime. Like yesterday I gave in an ate some home made flapjack around a bonfire that was made with butter. Wham I had painful wrists and ankles all night. Fabulous flapjack, but I won't do that again.
So what I do say is I have it under control, sufficient for my doctor to be happy that I no longer need the range of medication I used to take. By eating the right foods and keeping up with my hard exercise regime I feel increasingly healthier each day.
Well done, keep it up.
Hi, perhaps Ant 92 took action quickly and this worked. There are plenty of people who have been cured of fibro with diet and they have written great books with thier stories and diet plans. But the longer you leave it, and the longer you continue to eat the same foods then you will never get well. And then other illnesses will come creeping in.
Very well done Ant on your hard work. Sticking to a special diet is hard work. All the best to you for you future. X☺
Thank you for for the link in your previous post, it was very interesting. I’m unaware of any arguments you’ve had previously with this community.
I’m delighted to read that you’ve cured your fibro, this news will bring hope to many people, me included. I’ve tried many things over almost 40 years with fibro, including the Fibro Diet, which sadly, had no effect. I would certainly consider trying a raw diet though.
One of the things I have experienced with fibro are periods of remission, which bring false hope. Now I’m older, my fibro has become increasingly debilitating and I’m now disabled, despite my best efforts.
Like you, a healthy diet is important to me and we grow some organic fruit and veg in the garden. I don’t snack or eat junk food and exercise gently each day. I’m far from alone in having a healthy lifestyle on this forum and still having fibro.
I know many of us find complementary and alternative treatments helpful. Some of us are or were, complementary health practitioners and therapists. All these things still don’t prevent fibro and fibro effects us all differently. What works for one, may not work for others. This is the trap that the big pharma fall into.
I wish you well for the future. I’d like to offer a little insight from someone much wiser than me, which is good advice for life and something I try to remember: Assumptions are bad for your health! xx
Glad you are not making assumptions about others.......??
Gladder still that those who continue use this site post messages of support to one another
A bit insulting. I've been vegetarian for 50 years, certainly don't eat rubbish, and was still diagnosed with fibro.
Very unfair to insult people you don't know, and totally unnecessary.
There is currently no known diet which will improve fibromyalgia symptoms; however this is not to say that some people won't see an improvement after changing their diet/lifestyle
There are many vegans etc who also have fibromyalgia ... so it's not as simple as just changing what you eat. although we all know that eating a healthy; fresh food diet will be more beneficial to our general health than a diet full of processed/additive laden food.
The other thing that I want to mention is even if diet could be the "cure" for fibromyalgia, a lot of us have more than I illness. I have RA diagnosed 2002 , a few other conditions that are secondary to R.A.but at the best are manageable, diagnosed with Pulmonary fibrosis over two years ago incurable and progressive then fibromyalgia 22 months ago.
Ant, will a vegan diet cure me of all my conditions?
Just re - reading your previous posts unless I'm mistaken you never received a formal diagnosis of fibromyalgia? Also your onset ( of wide ranging symptoms ) is extremely recent, and you are only 24.
There are people here ( like myself ) who have been diagnosed, who have suffered intractable severe pain for literally decades and have tried numerous treatment's, 'cures', and diets ( yes vegan & veggie too ) in an attempt to relieve their suffering.
You don't even know if you have Fibro you have gone on a vegan diet & 'detox' and feel better. I'm happy for you.
Just don't tell me that's all I need to do to cure myself - ok?
Have a nice pain free day...
Very insulting comments are unfounded. I wish you well and hope you continue to have good health. I am doing well myself but I’m not cured! Also I am a junk food eater but not chronic! I am finding Reiki healing and pacing myself. Plus I am now redundant so can take things slower.
Just being a vegan is no guarantee of avoiding fibro and related illnesses. Some vegan diets can be very unhealthy! Even going further towards the extreme healthy diet of a whole food plant based may not be sufficient.
In my opinion and experience what is necessary and sufficient is a whole food plant based no oil tuned to avoid specific foods that trigger pain. For example I excluded mostly nightshade plants and gluten as well after going through a detailed elimination process over several months.
The pathway is like walking a tightrope and needs determination and focus. Secondary conditions do no prohibit recovery and indeed are likely to similarly benefit, but they do make the tightrope walk a greater challenge.
