Hello hazeybaby26 yes ive awoke with enourmous neck and head pain, I am told its the muscles at the back of neck-they go up into head in a "V" shape and cause horrendous migraine type pain, it seems this inflammation of the muscles causes blood flow interruption-which gives the head pain-I was given sumatriptine to stop the onset before it becomes bad, maybe tell your gp, dont ignore I did one time and found I,d had a sub arachnoid!!
