welcome to our forum where you will find answers to your questions and meet many friendly like minded people.
Many of us find that we lose our friends when we can't keep up socially with them due to illness.
You don't mention whether you also suffer with Fibromyalgia along with your RA, many people do. If you don't also have Fibromyalgia along with your RA, you may find more support on RA forum. If you go to the top of the Home Screen, you will see a heading saying My Communities, click the down arrow and it will take you to other HealthUnclocked Communities.
You mention that you live in Warminster. There is a good group that meets on the 1st Monday of the month in the Blue House in Frome at 1.30. It is for anyone who has a long term illness, and they meet up for coffee and chat. Sometimes there may be a speaker, or other events. It is very friendly.
Rose54 has mentioned about locking your post. You have given quite a lot of personal information on your post, and since it isn't locked it can be seen on any Social Media site, and anywhere on the Web where someone searches for Fibromyalgia. So please be safe, and go back into the post you have written, and scroll down to the bottom of your post where you will see two questions about who you wish to see your post. Choose the one that says Only This Community. Or you can follow Rose's link for full instructions on how to lock your posts.
You have taken the first step in reaching out to find new friends that understand what it means to live with Chronic Illness.
Hi Trish - I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I wish I could say it is unusual, but unfortunately, it isn't (the pain and even losing your friends). It's a shame that people drop away, but I know it does happen.
Welcome to the website. It is one of those sites that people are sorry you have to join, but still happy that you are here.
I think most of us were the same. I traveled from one coast to another for the last 8 years of my career - home on Fridays and back to SF on Mondays every other week, while working 50 - 60 hours a week. Now I won't get on a plane. What I have tried to do is find things that my body can tolerate and do what I can not to make it worse... Just pace yourself, and maybe talk your little doggie for a walk.. Welcome and take care
Well, they may have been, but sometimes I find that disability causes some people unease. They are not sure what to say to you, it doesn't occur to them just to come over for tea and cakes or something, and just enjoy your company.. Take care
