Hi, I have recently been having unusual sensations after I wake at night and sometimes after I have been to the bathroom. One is like someone has tapped the back of my head. The other is on my face, near my right eye/nose, and as though a small soft ball has been thrown at me. It usually happens only once in the night, and will be either one or the other of these, but not both. Does anyone else experience this?

I'm new here.
Hello Catherine
Welcome to our lovely Fibromyalgia forum
It's so strange that you should mention that feeling.
Apparently there is a condition called "Exploding Head Syndrome" and no I am not joking.
It happens to some people just as they are falling asleep.
The experts say that it is to do with the brain shutting down before we go to sleep.
One of our members posted about it recently and there was an article in my magazine this week about it.
I hope you enjoy being part of the forum
Wishing you a peaceful evening

Thanks Lu for your welcome, and your quick response. I have looked at Exploding Head Syndrome, and from what I can see it seems to be felt in the head rather than on it? I would like to look at the article, can you direct me to how to find it? Also, can you tell me if it is possible to change my profile name? I tried under "edit your profile" but couldn't see how to change the name.
Thank you so much, I am looking forward to being part of this community

Hi Catherine
There wasn't a full article on the forum, although I can have a look and see if I can find the one in my magazine for you.
It was just one of our members (and I am really cross with myself cos I can't remember her user name!).
It will come to me honest!
Give me some time and I'll get back to you.
To change your username:
Click on your username at the top of your screen
Click on "account settings"
Scroll about three quarters of the way down the page and you can change your name there.
Don't forget to scroll right down to the bottom and "save" your changes.
If you get stuck come back to me.
Lu xx
PS Darn Fibro fog. I am sure it was Gina.

Hi Lu,
I did a search on the site and came across the post. You're not far wrong, it's Gilly.
I found it really interesting, and it's made me decide to keep a diary of when it happens. The thing that doesn't seem to connect is that there's no loud sound goes with it. I did though relate to those who mentioned doorbell and phone ringing during the night.
I am so glad to have found this forum! It does seem wonderful, and so do the people I have met so far :)) And fun! xx
Blue really how can the member have a piece full evening when the head could exsplode 😂😅😎
Lol 😀 xx
Thank you x
Lol! xx
He he xx
Hi, welcome! Couple of things spring to mind. Sinuses and Neuralgia? Have you mentioned it to your Dr? One of the things about Fibromyalgia is it's more than just one thing lol! All sorts of other things seem put in an appearance too.
I'm sure you'll get a number of different suggestions! Good to hear from you. Dawn xx
Thank you Dawn and hi. I do have sinus problems frequently. Not neuralgia though as far as I know. I know what you mean about fibro! I hope you are keeping ok? Take care and thanks xxx
That's my girl lol xx
