Saw rheumatology registrar at a different hospital this morning. He said despite a positive blood test for RA and a year of treatment with toxic drugs in his opinion I don't have RA. I have fibromyalgia. That I don't need any medication and once people stop telling me I'm ill I will feel better. I just need to forget all this and go and live my life like a normal person. He can't see the swelling the other consultant could and there is no evidence of inflammation.
I'm feeling completely devastated. My appointment was to get me biologics and now he's saying I have nothing wrong with me. I went to the GP last year as my thumb locked and I couldn't move it. Then my knees developed fluid on them and I couldn't move by elbows. He said to me today he didn't need me to remove my jeans for him to see there was nothing wrong.
I just needed a decent night's sleep and to see a shrink.
I'm completely bewildered. I'm in so much pain and now it's no we aren't going to improve your treatment we are going to suggest you have no treatment at all.
They've withdrawn everything but paracetamol and said buck your ideas up you're just neurotic.

So one consultants says you do have RA and one consultant says you don't have RA? Could you request a 3rd opinion?? I would also question the positive blood test ... Is it possible to get false positives for RA?? Maybe another test is in order too? Hopefully your GP will be able to be more helpful than this "specialist".
I gasped when I read your experience with that disgusting doctor. How dare he - you must go back to your GP and tell him/her what happened today. I'm sorry but I don't know what RA is?????
I'm fuming on your behalf. Put a cushion in front of you and imagine its that guys face and PUNCH it to release your tension. Take care and Best wishes, Jan x
ps.. I don't usually agree with aggression but today would be the day to show that cushion hell, then have a nice cup of tea.
I have also pasted for you a link to the NHS Choices cache relating to PALS. It is entitled: ''What is PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service)?'' I truly hope that you find these useful links:
That is disgusting treatment! Make a formal complaint. via pals and the head consultant in charge. Either way this is wrong on so many levels. I'm sorry you are now a victim of this clinical abuse. Take comfort in knowing you are not alone.
Registrars are Not Consultants, they are training to be consultants and still are overseen by the consultant. Personally, I would contact the office and ask for an explanation before you put in a complaint about the registrar. he should not override his Consultant's judgement, nor should he treat you in such a cavalier fashion!
I know doctors are under immense pressure now, but in my mind that is unforgivable. PALS may be worth a try too.
I am truly sorry to hear what you had to go through with this awful doctor 👨⚕️ if you can call him that.
There is not a lot that I can add other than it's absolutely disgusting that you had to go through this with this awful man ( so called doctor) I truly hope that you report him. Take good care of yourself hun. 🤗🤗🤗🌺🌸🌹🌷xxx
