Really? !! That's great news, perhaps we will now be taken seriously by all those medics who think we imagine our symptoms. :) :) :)

Hi Jayney61

I have had the radio and television news on and have not yet managed to find it. I did google it and there is news that Northern Ireland recognises fibro. Is this where you live?

Hi Jayney61 I have just followed the link and see that it applies to Catalonia in Spain, and looking at the the date, it was seven days ago.

No problems at all, easily done in the excitement of good news.

How good it would have been with our lot though :)

Thank You Jayney61 - Is it the Breaking News article you are referring to? If so, this story in the US about a court case in regards to Social Security. I am sorry I cannot find anything about the UK only Northern Ireland as Bluebell99 has mentioned.

All the best, Emma :)

isn't Northen Ireland part of the UK?

Hi Catherines19611,

Thank You for your reply

Of course but I think if you read the article it says NHS England recognise the condition however in NI the Patient and Client Council in Northern Ireland were inundated with complaints about the Healthcare services in NI.

In 2008, FibroAction's Lindsey Middlemiss took it to parliament (read here publications.parliament.uk/... and was instrumental in updating the NHS Choices information to help people living with Fibromyalgia

However, there is a long way to go in the UK as the condition is still listed as musculoskeletal in WHO Classification and NICE has no guidelines for treatment.

What I was trying to relay without sounding rude is that the article mainly centred around the Patient and Client Council in Northern Ireland NI recognising Fibro rather than an article relating to whole of the UK.

I am hopeful with campaigning it will improve and this good news will come - it would have been a wonderful present for May 12th - Int'l Awareness Day !

Unfortunately, I think because this wasn't picked up last year by any of the UK charity's for Fibromyalgia that maybe it is not the news we might have been hoping. Sorry to sound negative, just being honest.

All the best

Emma :)

Hi Jayney61

No problem my friend. Several countries are recognizing Fibro as a long term chronic illness. Spain have already done so, and Northern Ireland is following suit. Hopefully the rest of the UK will soon.

All my hopes and dreams for you
