I'm so sorry you broke your ankle, I hope you heal soon and well, it is so very difficult to wipe when your in pain, especially arthritic pain. what I do is I get a loofah stick without the loofah I wrap wipes around it, or actually tie them to it and I cleAn that way..better yet those backscrarchers because they have the little gripper hand to get right up there easier and you get a cleaner feeling seems to work for my 83 year old arthritic grama who has similar issues. If you can it may be too hard because of your ankle but sit on a shower chair in the shower with holes in the actual seat most do, and spray with you shower hose. You don't need much or to wet your whole body just your bum if you can. Hope this helps! If not maybe IHSS can provide someone to help you with your hygiene if your not to embarrassed for help. Good luck

Hi Bettyhelp

Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so truly sorry to read of your situation, and there are devices that you can buy (quite cheaply) for assistance with personal hygiene. I have sent you a personal message with the details as I cannot post it on the open forum.

You could also ask you local authority for an assessment for personal care and they could send in a carer to help if you did not mind this kind of very intimate assistance?

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck my friend, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hi Bettyhelp - I'm not sure is money is an issue for you, but another thing that works wonderfully well is a bidet. it washes you off after your business and even if you can reach the area to dry it off, everything should be clean.

Oh dear...if you can ..have someone install a handicap bar or even two close to your commode. My hubby did that for me when I was too weak to stand on my own. He put one vertical on the wall on one side and also put one above the toilet paper holder on the other side. They come in various sizes. . Now I have places to grab hold...it's a lifesaver ! God Bless you..XX
