Wide Awake πŸ˜”

Ok so normally I would be light hearted about this fact but I can't this time! Not that I'm in excruciating pain, its just that I can't sleep! There's only so much telly one person can watch, only so many fb posts I can read and definitely only so much scrabble i can play (on line that is!) I'm really fed up with it, I know now that tomorrow might as well not exist for me as I will be battling just to stay awake never mind have any normalcy to my day (not that I really do nowadays). Do you think Fibro has a clock? Do you think it'll remember to put the clock forward an hour, just to confuse us even more? I have a ticking clock and sometimes it sounds like a time bomb waiting to go off & shout IT'S MORNING! At which time, the time of day will bear no relevance to me, my curtains will remain closed & the only hope I will have is that the weather will be crap so at least I won't feel like I've wasted yet another day!

Sorry for the ramble folks, nice bit of relief though.

Gentle hugs to all πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—

Hi kmc-cudsleepforaweek

I really am so genuinely sorry to read that you cannot sleep and that it is upsetting you so much my friend. You know, I had never considered about the ticking clock? What happened a few months ago when we put the clocks back? Did our body clock / Fibro amend itself then? very interesting to say the least. It sounds like it might make a good poll sometime?

On the bright side, the BBC News Channel have forecast atrocious weather for the next couple of days, so no problem with staying in bed! I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken x

Thanks Ken, it is the silly questions like the time shift that at least inspire a chuckle. Sleep - 0, feelings of comaradarie - oh about a bazillion!

Have a good day, you are always very kind πŸ€—xx

Kmc, know what you mean but have had to accept that i just don't sleep when everybody else dose . The thing to remember is SLEEP is very iportent to your overall health. I think I need at least 8 hours and it doesn't matter when I get it ( example: 12am - 8 am or 2am - 10am. Or 3am - 11am. I am not a morning Person so sleeping till 10 or 11 works for me ( i am retired, so i can do this. I live in USA and have lots of TV to choose from. I also have several games i play including Words with Friends. I am on FB and sometimes do laundry, or pay bills etc etc . I guess my point is if having trouble sleeping, use your time to do those things that need to be done ( usually day time). Just some thoughts. Find what works for you 😘

Hi Redhot7, thankyou for you reply 😊8 must congratulate you on achieving an entire 8hr sleep, I would give my dog for that, errrrr no I wouldn't, but maybe one of my kids πŸ˜…. I'm always to blurry to anything productive during the wee hours but thanks for tips.

Hope you are as well as can be & hugs across the pond πŸ€—πŸ€—

Cud, a little update, I use to be able to count on 8, last couple of weeks , not so much. Pain wakes me , must get up and get started on morning pills which includes pain pill and cymbalta. Hope you were finally able to get some sleep. Has your GP given you any sleeping mad to help? I take Temasapan . There are also OTC meds you could try, just tell GP.

Hi FlowerPowerPixi (love the name). Sorry to hear about your back (I'm wincing on your behalf as I type). Have you tried Epsom Salt? It's really good for relaxing those muscles (full of magnesium). Actually might drag myself to the bath for a good soak πŸ€” hope you have as pain free day as possible.

Big hugs to you πŸ€—πŸ€—

Morning kmc-cudsleepforaweek I know how you feel only so much tv you can watch, after a while it starts to get to me. I end up getting irritable with it and my memory isn't that great either. I hope you managed to get some sleep and remember someone is always around here so don't sit and suffer.

I hope your day goes ok and is as pain free as possible πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€— xxx

Hi, sorry to hear sleep is being particularly elusive for you.

It has been well documented that looking at an electronic screen interferes with natural sleep, perhaps a puzzle book may help you to relax more.

I give it two hours and if I am not asleep by then I get up, make a drink, potter around, watch boring news on the telly and then go back to bed. It usually works.

Hope you find something to help you very soon.

X

I read about using special orange lenses that block blue light (apparently what tricks your brain into thinking its still daylight, keeping you awake) You can get u-vex ones that completely surround your eyes, use them in the evening....that and a shed load of medication to knock you out! :-P

I couldn't sleep so I got up and took my dogs our for a slightly earlier walk at 5.30 this morning. Its normally around 6ish. I stayed busyish until 12.30 then fell asleep for 20 minutes and I'm on the go again.

I feel awful when I can't sleep but worse when I can't do what I need to get done!

Hi - I have to have my sleep aids. Not good for everyone but I rotate my meds and sometimes do without so not to get dependent. I take a tranx about twice a week (or so) at night. I take Zopiclone (even less frequently - it does the job but leaves an aftertaste). I sometimes take a quarter of Doxylamine, but that leaves me feeling groggy the envy day. If I have other complaints e.g. headaches then I take painkillers which help or if I'm itchy I take the drowsy type of Piriton which helps too. Note, not all these things at once!
