I think I was misdiagnosed.

I was diagnosed about 18 months ago. With all the classic symptoms of fibromyalgia. I had 14 of the pressure/ pain points etc. On Christmas day I was admitted to hospital with bilateral pneumonia and septicemia. My C Reactive Protein was 285 I had a massive infection which the consultant said was very deep seated. I was given 2 types of if antibiotics for 5 days then 10 days of oral antibiotics of the same type. I was then discharged with a different antibiotic which I took for another 7 days. Since then all my fibromyalgia symptoms have gone, I have osteoarthritis and now get the odd ache but the neurological type pains have gone, no more pain points, no rib pains etc etc etc. I have looked up reactive arthritis but my joints never swelled nothing about this adds up. I have been pain free since the 7 of January. I have never felt so well, I am off my fibromyalgia meds and painkillers. I am not complaining but nobody can tell me why!

Wow so happy for you don't ask why just be thankful your well.

I know when I have antibiotics I feel better but only last the week I am on them, I have mentioned this to the doctors but they say it's a coincidence.

Enjoy your good Health.

So glad to hear your pain free that's wonderful. It is not unknown to feel pain free for months at a time. The same way we have fibro flares we can at times feel very good indeed.

It as also been said some fibro people can make a full recovery ! I hope your good health continues.

Hi Badbessie

I am genuinely delighted to read that your pain has eased for you and I sincerely hope that it continues to stay that way. It does make you wonder if you were misdiagnosed and your symptoms appeared as Fibro when they were an infection? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Thankyou, but my pain as not eased it's gone. Before Christmas I had been in constant pain, I was on garberpentin, strong painkillers etc. At times I was having trouble just getting into bed let alone going out.

That really is amazing my friend? I am not a doctor but I would have to guess that you may have been misdiagnosed? I sincerely hope that this is the case and that your pain never returns.

All my hopes and dreams for you

There is a type of arthritis called reactive arthritis but my symptoms do not fully match this. However I could be a non typical case. I have good periods and flair's but never nothing like this.

Good to hear all your pain has gone ! Have you heard of Lyme disease? Have you been bitten by a tic? Often people are misdiagnosed and treated for fibromyalgia when in fact it is Lyme's. Apparently the treatment is a long course of antibiotics. Here in the UK they do not test for it and people are having the test done in Germany. If Lyme is present antibiotic treatment given and then pain free! Do some research into it i will find you the link of a lady who fundraises for people to have the correct test and for the awareness of the disease. Its Lymeaid UK on Facebook. Hope you stay fine 😀

Amazing how well you feel after what awful health you have had.It does sound like misdiagnosis but excuses will be made to protect people. You could go to patient liason service to find answers.it is hard to think of going to that bother thou when u are ok now.

Wishing you forever good health now

I have had every test known to man, from bloods to CT scan, MRI and nothing showed. In September last year I had pyelonephritis and I was given powerful antibiotics. Result cured kidney infection also vast improvement in my " fibromyalgia". Then gradually it became worse. Christmas a massive dose of antibiotics and it goes. Strangely I have found looking on various sites about 25 other examples of this happening both in the UK and the USA.
