Hi all, I have just discovered I also have Hypermobility on top of Fibromyalgia, Raynaud's phenomenon, Photosensitivity, Trigeminal neuralgia, Carpal tunnel syndrome and autonomic dysfunction.....seems like the list will just get bigger and bigger. Does anyone else on here have hypermobility? how does it affect you as you age?

Hi Cara, Im having all the same conditions (except the photosensitivity) Several studies suggest that there is a strong association between joint hypermobility and fibromyalgia.
Raynauds, Trigeminal neuralgia, carpal tunnel, autonomic disfunction and photosensitivity are all related to Hypermobility Syndrome/EDS3.
So instead of a whole list of conditions I see it that I suffer from one condition with lots of first and secondary symptoms.
I started getting problems about 10 years ago and 2 years ago I had to give up work and use a little scooter to get around. But it affects everyone different, some people get a bit better when they age (as your body gets less flexible and others get worse) My main problem is my mobility, pain and exhaustion. I wish you all the best on your journey and feel free to ask any other questions.
I manage with medication and pacing
I should be trying to fall asleep, good night and have a lovely weekend😊😴
I am so genuinely sorry to read this my friend, and I sincerely hope that you are not in too much pain as you appear to have a list of painful conditions? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.
Hi your not on your own! I've got hyper mobility,I get pain in all of my joints and find it impossible to move sometimes due to the pain. Like the others I'm on medication and I swallow tablets for fun! I'm now in the process of getting the injection, but am very scared! My condition is all due to my back which has lead into the list of many other things. I'm only 33 and have been suffering for years. Only try to do what you can and don't ever over do it!
I was only told I had hypermobility by a massage therapist about four years ago. My fibromyalgia diagnosis came about three years ago. I think they are linked. I'm guessing the problem will get worse as I get older.
I have hypermobility too, used to be called double jointed in my day but we have a nice new name for it now! I suffer with arthritis and bursitis and my doc thinks it is because of the hypermobility. Because we have a wider range of motion in areas of our body it also makes the pain worse I find. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but as with all your other conditions, I am sure you will mange anything else that comes your way, good luck xx
OMG I have the same list of conditions as u.. As well as a few others.. I was told eds 3 hypermobilty goes with fibro most of the time.. Nightmare really.. Hope u doing well.. It's hard when they keep adding to the list.. Sending soft hugs
I also have most of your conditions plus more it stated with the hyper mobility first then The list just got bigger from there since turning 40 I don't think I have a painfree day just waiting for my lidocaine infusion I hope this helps
Yes I too have hypermobility. As a child I was very flexible, and could bend my thumbs back, touch my toes, push knees back etc.
Now all those places are incredible painful, probably from moving the wrong way so much. I also feel like my shoulders will pop out of position if I turn quickly.
So, what used to be my party trick, has now developed into long term pain.
I too have hypermobility syndrome and as Loreen has said was always so much more flexible as a child. No I have that plus Sero-Negative Rheumatoid/Psoriatic Arthritis (Rheumys can't make up their minds), psoriasis, Polymyalgia, Osteoarthritis, IBS, Depression, trigger fingers, Bursitis, plantar fasciitis, Hypothyroidism, Acid reflux and costochondritis.
Seems the older I get the more they tell me is wrong with me.
I am in pain 24/7 and as others have said the list of medications is huge. I get side effects from some of the drugs so have others to counteract those so the list just gets bigger. Only good thing is because of the Thyroid problem I don't have to pay for my medications otherwise it would cost me a fortune in prescription charges especially as nowadays you can only get 4 weeks medications at a time.
I truly hope that your list of conditions never grows.
Thanks all for you comments and well wishes, the fact that i now know others are dealing with the same makes me feel more at ease as psychologically i was beginning to feel more and more like a hypochondriac.
Just wanted to add that i was beginning to come to terms with the fibro etc until being hit by a car in november as a pedestrian walking on a public footpath, but the pain was unbearable.
