Fibromyalgia and joint hypermobility

This may have been discussed but has anyone any advice. -i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia some 10 yrs ago but given family history and various symptoms I think I may have joint hypermobility. Have got another referral to see a rheumatologist soon and wondered how I should broach/discuss this. I seem to have all the symotoms for both and either way I feel wrecked. I am also converned that I may need to claim benefits as I am 62 and cannot continue with the physical job of dog grooming because of pain. So accurate diagnisis necessary and i always felt that the first one was rather cursory. Thank you for any help...

Oh my!that is a tough job, personally if I got down on one knee I'd be stuck stiff as a board lol,I know, as I've tried it at the weekend back at my mums striping the walls lucky neither mum or my daughter seen it or they'd of traded me in for a trades person ,I mean I'm a professional without the paperwork us women can do nearly most things😹,anyways, back to you,not me lol,you could start by explaining what your fibromyalgia pain is to the Dr that you suffer then explain apart from that you get a different pain and explain that pain, my own Dr went right to work trying to help me when I explained that way, turned out I had osteoarthritis and dercums disease on top of that, there's a couple of ppl on the fmuk site that I believe suffer the hyperthing ,they come in here to,.best of luck I hope this helps rather than hinders 👩

Thank you - yes, it helps - it is hard though isn't it, especially when you are so used to living with pain to differentiate between different pain! One of the reasons i think it is hypermibility is because I can actually do things but haven't the ability to continue for long and if I push myself which I regularly do I am depleted of any ability or stamina for the next day! Complicated indeed! And like you not doing stuff isn't really an option! With older disabled husband and an old house in a remote place with lots of animals!! Thank you.....

If you had Hypermobility you would have probably been told as a child you were double jointed.

It is something you are born with but not really looked into unless you have the syndrome were you joints pop out easily like us and yes it can lead to a lot of other conditions as you get older one being Fibromyalgia.
